To the mean, hateful, envious and racist people up thread, go suck eggs.
Malia definitely deserves praise; but, mommy and daddy are hypocrites for providing school choice for their children while actively opposing it for other people's children.

Pretty much. I worked with a woman who heard about a minority woman getting into an Ivy League school. She said, very dismissively, "Hispanic female," as if that explained it all. And a friend whose quite average son did not get into a service academy dismissed another student who was valedictorian of her high school the same way when the girl was accepted.

Racism is its purest form.

As far as Malia Obama goes, I'm sure any child whose father is president is going to be accepted anywhere she applies. I'm equally sure Malia is a good student because she was raised by very intelligent, highly educated parents and has had every educational advantage. None of those things takes away from the fact that it's an honor and an accomplishment to be accepted at Harvard.

Congratulations, Malia!

I do.

I also doubt Jenna Bush got into UT-Austin on her own merit.

I always congratulate parents whose kid(s) enter college, even if it's only community college.

Having raised four kids myself, I realize how hard it is to raise kids nowadays. To me, having a child enter college is a parental achievement of sorts.

Yes! It's quite an accomplishment. We should all pause to enjoy the successes of our fellow humans.

She benifitted from AA and likely also from the fact that her older brother was captain of the basketball team at Princeton.
The last time I spoke to Michelle's high school teachers they told me she was a great student and showed me several of her report cards. Her high school counselor told me the same thing.

Did they tell you something different when you asked?

*sarcasm*

I would suggest you read it for yourself. Very poorly written.
