What is your point exactly? in every instance like this people die until someone else with a gun puts them down. Did you see the protests in Ukraine? I guess since the police were there is was all just going to work out. Protests are the absolute worst case scenario for anyone because its chaos. If shooting starts lots of people are likely to die.

In some situations it IS the right thing to do and others, like this one, it's best to just walk/run/crawl away. There were undercover cops there which "joe citizen" would have no idea about and could've shot 'em by mistake and vise-versa.
I say "leave it to the pros" when there's reasonable expectation/chance that they'll show up fast enough to actually do something.
In most people's homes today there is not that expectation or chance.
Where I live cops are at least 10 minutes away. In a serious situation we'd be long dead by the time someone showed up.

I lived in a place where open carry was a daily event during hunting season. When going out one straps on a pistol along with one's hunting rifle. If on the way you need gas or stop for coffee everyone does so while their pistol is on their hip or shoulder rig.
It does have it's place but that place is NOT at a protest that is contentious to begin with and that have gone violent in the recent past.

Rather pointless (at least IMO) attempt to downplay the type of weapon used as not being one of those scary "assault weapons". Anyway, the meme that an antique SKS is somehow benign compared to a 'modern' AR is being discarded as new 'information' comes in:

It's not one, so why call it one? If people want to argue points, they should understand what they're talking about, most anti-gun people have no idea what they're talking about. You certainly don't expect us to just sit here and not rebut the lies and false information?

Or maybe you do...

So which is the truth, and which is the lie?
The early report that the shooter used a 'plain' SKS rifle which would not have met the definition of an "assault rifle" under the old Federal AWB;

Or the new report that he used a customized Saiga AK-74 with a detachable 30-round magazine and a folding stock -- two features that would have met the definition?

Neither of those meet the definition of an assault weapon, despite what the media tells you. Neither a folding stock nor a detachable magazine make something an assault rifle.

I had a .22 rifle that had both of those, would you claim that it was an assault rifle?
