The premium has gone up, as has the deductible. I've read it's going up another 70% next year.
And if you're making more than poverty level income and get it through the marketplace at healthcare.gov, the deductible / out of pocket amounts are high, the premiums are high and you may or may not find your doctor / hospital in your network.
That was another lie he told - that you wouldn't have to leave your doctor with Obamacare, you could keep the doctor of your choice.
My premium went from $297 a month to $22 a month. I was hard to insure before because I take 1 prescription and therefore was eliminated from most companies. Now I can get insurance.
Thanks Obama
Hey you're welcome man, glad we could help. It's not like any of us had any plans for that extra income or anything like that.
Just the opposite. Before Obamacare I could get a 5,000 dollar deductible "catastrophic" health insurance plan for right around 300 dollars per month. Now a plan on the exchange costs close to 500 dollars and this is before the expected 62% rate increase Blue shield is expected to charge. If my math is right the premium should be around 800 dollars per month.
This is in an area where homes can be bought for 125,000 dollars and the median income is 30,000 a year. It seems unreasonable to pay more for health insurance than I would for housing.
We pay $11,000 a year for insurance for our family of four--more than double from what I paid previously. It's good insurance, even though the specialist copays are a little pricey, but it's good insurance with Aetna. Now I read they are pulling out of the exchange because they are losing too much money. We paid a very high price for garbage insurance until I found Aetna. Now I don't know what I'll do. $11K was a very big hit for us every year.
Recent articles in the WSJ have explained that only the sick or ill are pretty much signing up now which is one reason the rates continue to go up and why companies like Aetna are pulling out.
The irony is that Aetna was very public in their support of Obama and obamacare but not now. Ah details and foresight. The biggest " surprise" is that the younger generation simply isn't signing up and if they do, you can't have a couple in their 30's " supporting" the medical bills of 4 older people on Medicaid.
