Following a social media firestorm about her use of the phrase “colored people,” Good Morning America host Amy Robach issued an apology.
“This morning during a segment about Hollywood casting, I mistakenly said ‘colored people’ instead of ‘people of color,’” said Robach, a graduate of Brookwood High School in Snellville and the University of Georgia. “I sincerely apologize. It was a mistake and is not at all a reflection of how I feel or speak in my everyday life.”
“Colored people,” a label used during segregation, was replaced in the late 1960s by “black” and later by “African-American.” To some, “colored people” is the equivalent of a racial slur.
I don't see much difference between colored people and people of color.

Side note, my brother had to deal with a major labor problem at one of his company's job sites, because a black guy and a Hispanic guy got into an argument. As the Hispanic guy was walking away, one of his buddies walks up to see what was going on. The Hispanic guy who was in the argument told his friend, in Spanish, "That black guy over there is an ass." The black guy heard it, but didn't speak Spanish. It went really downhill from there.
If she had to think about it, then saying anything else was disingenuous. What she said the first time was how she thinks.
Most likely a term she grew up with I doubt if she is racist in any way.
