I don't think he was trying to pull a 9/11 style attack, it that's what you're saying. There is no excuss for bringing a weapon to a security checkpoint, but this kid was just an idiot. It's good to see that TSA was looking out, though.

Eastern

One can't prove that he was going to attack. It is the attempt to carry the concealed weapon aboard that is a crime in itself.

It is, and he's being charged for it. They handled very reasonably, too. I would have almost expected them to water-board him and try him as an enemy combatant. He had a copy of the Koran and the Bible.

I'm sure it raised some alerts though. I'll bet he and his family had all kinds of visitors from the government. Did I mention he's an idiot?

He could have been smarter by putting the razorblade in the book binding, there might have been atleast a POSSIBILITY of getting through.

You have to be a retard to think the book was going to block the view of the knife.

As i have said, I think responsible citizens shoud be able to carry weapons, including knives, guns and box cutters, wherever they wish. This includes commercial aircraft, theaters and political events. Armed citzens can be trusted with weapons. I do not trust governments that disarm free citizens.

Too bad the guy did not realize that a really sharp knife can be chipped out of hard glass, obsidian or flint. Just takes the time to learn how or know somebody that already does. The technology may be 30,000 years old but it still works and magnetic sensors do not see it.

Given that he was breaking the law by sneaking it onto a plane, I don't think you could call him a responsible citizen. Out of curiosity, by what means would TSA identify responsible citizens?
