What if racism is in our DNA? Do we stop trying to resist what comes natural and just segregate again and pass strict race laws? What are they trying to say?

I believe in evolution, physical, emotional, and mental growth.
Racists found that nuance was no longer needed when Obama was elected. They now had more of an excuse to spew hatred openly, especially about the President. Their comeback continues to be "I can't be racist against Obama because he had a white mother!"
Would it surprise me if Obama said something to increase racial tensions? No.
We realize that folks like you never really want to get down to it in regard to slavery. After all, it pretty much destroys your view of America always being the land of the free and the home of the brave.
I once knew a woman, as educated woman, who had a toddler. At lunch with tis woman one day she explained to me how important it was to her to teach her toddler that black people were different and he was better. Amazing the secrets in people's hearts, even though under the right circumstances those secrets can come thundering out in rage and hatred.
A bit like my grandmother who raised me. When she was thinking about civil rights, she would say all the right things...sort of. But then when she wasn't focusing, little things would slip out.

Depends on your expectation of multiculturalism. I have a feeling you set a very low bar. I suppose when it comes right down to it, slavery promoted a type of multiculturalism; all those Black and White people living together on the plantation.
Has nothing to do with America. For hundreds of thousands of year people conquered and enslaved others. The freeing of slaves is a modern ideal in which America was towards the forefront of, btw. Judging history by modern standards is silly and pretending America and whites in general some how own the history of salveru is just stupid.

I almost fell off my chair one day when I was hanging with a woman I've known about 5 years. She was talking about her friend's daughter, who is white and was having a baby with her long-time black boyfriend. The mother has no problem with the relationship, but my friend said, "I just can't get past the fact that this baby will be mixed black and white." I was stunned, and I said quietly, "You DO remember that my sister has been married to a black man for 40 years and that I have a biracial neice?" She said, "Yes, but I just don't approve of it." I said, "It isn't anything you get to approve or disapprove." She just laughed.
This is a Jewish woman who married into an Italian Catholic family and was called The Jew by her mother-in-law all her married life.

I understand and recognize the horrible history America participated in which Africans were selling their fellow man into slavery to Europeans that then resold them in America. I don't deny that America participated with most of the world in the heinous and unspeakable act of slavery.
I also recognize that was in the past and that today a black person can be police chief, mayor, governor, senator, attorney general or POTUS.

So true, Slavery existed in the Americas, and every other place on earth since the dawn of man kind. It exists in North Africa in Muslim countries to this day. Yeah, whites own Slavery
