And you think they should be reimbursed when they lost the right to own human beings?

Yet all in all, black people deserve reparations not only because of slavery, but to this day black people are suffering. In a lot of these big cities where black people live, a lot of the resources were taken out and placed into the suburbs. It's not a mistake a lot of black people live in poverty. If everything was leveled the moment slavery ended, there is no way black people wouldn't be on the same level as their white counterparts, but that is clearly not the case.
Most White people came because they were starving to death, being murdered for their religion or had no freedom in their old countries. There really were no benefits to be had, other than a chance at a better life. Less than 5% of White Americans ever owned a slave. Point being is your fairy tale that White people came to America so they could own slaves is nonsense. African slavery, as we know it, had been in existence for 800 years when the US got involved. Within 100 years we fought a civil war, where 500,000+ White men (at a time when the population was only 30 million) died to end the institution of slavery. You're welcome.

In my city, it's the Black community that gets all the special attention and funding, not the other way around. No matter how much money they throw at the problems though, nothing works because money is not the answer. 75% of Black kids grow up in single parent homes. That's why so many live in poverty. Two adults working full time, even at minimum wage are above the poverty line. In my neighborhood, Black folks long for the same era that Trump does when he says "make America great again". In the 1940's & 1950's the Black community was bustling with Black small business owners, Black home owners, Black schools, employment was at or greater to Whites, illegitimacy was lower than that of Whites, etc. Yes, there were problems that have since been mostly fixed, but the things the Black inner-city community had going for it (family, church, jobs, home ownership) have been replaced, mostly by one political party with illegitimacy, demonization of the church, unemployment and section-8 housing. The more reparations Black people take from them, the deeper they sink.

How do you determine who's "black enough" for reparations?

Is 1/2 enough? 1/8? 1/16, 1/32, 1/64?

Your biases are showing.

There are rational, intelligent reasons to oppose reparations. None of them have anything to do with racism.

Or maybe a home improvement store if he wants to advocate the swatch method of verification.

Saudi Arabia and Qatar still see black people as slaves.
Maybe you should ask Saudi and Qatar this question.

Yet we are struggling because they received nothing. Had they received reparations, they would have built more towns like those that were in Tulsa. Their children would have maintained those assets and start more businesses. Today, we would have had many black billionaires. However instead of that, almost a third of our population is in poverty, with about half of all the children right there in it. Black people in this nation must be a damned people for these things to have happened and continue to happen. I guess the biggest tragedy is, so far black people are unable to come together to the point of pulling ourselves up. I hope black people wake up soon before it's too late because as the poll indicates, no one else cares what happens to them.
- Again, this is mostly due to the state of the Black family. Two adults working full time, even at minimum wage, are well above the poverty line, even with multiple children. This is not because Black people are genetically averse to the family, or because Black men don't care about their children. Obviously not. The fact that neither slavery, nor Jim Crow could destroy the Black family are testaments to that fact. As recently as the 1950's the Black family unit was as strong or stronger than the White family unit. Then the 1960's came and something changed. The Black father was replaced by uncle Sam. It brought shame to the Black man trying to take care of his family and failing. A shame that is much worse today than it was then.

- You understand the solution is grass roots. Blindly voting Democrat & believing the rich White intellectuals will take care of your problems obviously doesn't work. If it was going to help, it would have by now. They stole the self respect of the poor Black community. You need to take it back. That happens at the grass roots level and can not be mandated by the DOJ. I realize it's not easy. You can't just snap your fingers and bring the Black community together, but that's where it has to happen. During the Birmingham bus strikes, Black men who had cars would drive Black workers to and from work, to and from the supermarket. When Black people could not count on a fair education from the White man, Black people created Black school that offered great educations and still stand strong today. Necessity is the mother of invention & Black folks have to rediscover the necessity and invention. You're a smart person. You look around and see Hispanics, Africans, Asians moving into the same neighborhoods where poor Black live and they lend each other money, open businesses, work 16 hour days, stay married, buy homes, demand their kids get good grades, teach their kids to respect authority & then they move out to the suburbs, clearing the way for the next group. Blacks have to find a way to tap into that same community spirit. That's the solution, not reparations.

Also why only limit to Blacks?
Historically, majority of people were slaves and peasants who lived in hierarchy society. They should receive reparations, too. Well that is if you can dinstinguish who their descendants are, lol
