I already know why our politics are different: it's because we are completely, utterly different people, with polar opposite values and beliefs.
I agree that liberals have a different brain from a non-liberal or conservative. It has to be heritable since most anyone born after the 1940's and 1950's has been exposed to constant liberal brainwashing in school, the media, workplace etc, but not everyone accepts liberalism. I don't have one relative that I can think of who is liberal not even my female relatives. I mean some of the females are female-centric like they usually are but they're not liberal.
complete and utter bs. rape and child rape is about the lack of consent. children can not consent that is a fact that will never change.
Children or minors can't consent to a lot of things adults require them to do, many things they don't even want to do. So consent doesn't alone make something moral and immoral, normal and abnormal. Two consenting gay adults is still abnormal and immoral. Next liberals will say xyz is child abuse. Wait liberals already do that.
REAL leftists, like me, do NOT support neoliberalism. "Liberals" are not leftists, they are Republicans. The fact that Sanders got so popular was because he expressed true leftist ideals which is something America has not seen since... Ever. America has never seen leftist candidates though FDR comes closest. Clinton, and the Neorepublican--cough I mean uh, "Democratic"--Party are for "free trade" and globalism true progressives don't support. A true leftist is not for the TPP or for war mongering. Or taking money from oil companies and then claim they aren't for fracking yet will vote to allow it to continue.
Only the Green Party is a leftist party in this country.
So true! This country has veered so far to the right that someone named Hillary Clinton is called a "leftist", when she is an old school Republican by any measure.
You have the extreme rightwing in the country, and then you have Democrats, and both are to the right of center.
Honestly, if someone is so tied to their political party that it affects their relationships...then it's a shame. Just because someone doesn't agree with your political views doesn't mean they have nothing in common with you nor you with them.
It's not political parties. It's values/interests/beliefs.
I know, I know--we are supposed to "find our shared humanity". And "work to find common ground".
But after many years of ignoring the sad truth, I have to admit: leftists and I do not HAVE any common ground. Not the most basic of values, no interests, no goals-----nothing.
This is hard for me to say, as I have several leftist family members.
(Oh, and I was a hardcore leftist myself for ten years or so... so I do know a bit about "both sides").
So be it, dude. I sure as hell won't try and convince you.

I understand where you are coming from. For years I was center, actually just slightly left of but in the past few years I have been pushed further and further to the right. It seems like on a daily basis something more mind boggling comes out of the left camp. I have some friends that lean left and well, lets just say we really aren't hanging out too much anymore. Not on my part though, I could hang with them and not ever bring up politics, but they can not do the same.

This rift between fellow Americans over political ideology is only going to get worse until you ultimately have your civil war and split the country up. No more USofA and lots of dead in the aftermath, you really think its worth it? IMO your enemies are doing a great job of destroying America from within through brainwashing and promoting hate its as if half your country (Democrats)have become the enemy...
But my point is that we HAVE no common ground. I value and am interested in certain qualities and things. Leftists value and are interested in the exact opposite....top to bottom.
Many of leftists goals based on their values is to chop yours down at the root.
There is going to be a major push back on this in the not to distant future.
There is no meeting them in the middle either.
Even if they would it would be one stepping stone from which to continue towards their final goal.

Uh, it wasn't the left that decided it was a noble thing to spend so much American blood and taxpayer $$$ to b ring democracy to Iraq with NO benefit to Americabut I guess you'll just conveniently overlook those global mistakes by those who allegedly 'value America', right?
BTW, ya might want to take a look at the buffoon the rightists have put up g=for POTUS who does business all over the world and has NO problem sending American jobs overseas as long as it puts more $$$ in his pocket.
This allegation the right values America more than the left is hyperbolic BS, nothing else.
