I know, I know--we are supposed to "find our shared humanity". And "work to find common ground".
But after many years of ignoring the sad truth, I have to admit: leftists and I do not HAVE any common ground. Not the most basic of values, no interests, no goals-----nothing.
This is hard for me to say, as I have several leftist family members.
(Oh, and I was a hardcore leftist myself for ten years or so... so I do know a bit about "both sides").
When is the last time any liberal was willing to find common ground with the other side?
But my point is that we HAVE no common ground. I value and am interested in certain qualities and things. Leftists value and are interested in the exact opposite....top to bottom.
We all have to live together. There's merit to both arguments. Have to find the happy medium. I like guns and big v8 engines. My sister advocates for environmental laws and goes to wine tasting events. I know how you feel but I'm willing to bet you can both agree on more things than you disagree. For example we all want a safe and clean place to live where there is opportinity for all that seek it. We just disagree on how best to accomplish that. Learn to try and see things from the opposite perspective, it can really help you become a more intelligent person I think. Trump has actually led me to think more about things I used to be polar on.
No I am sorry....I have tried to do what you suggest....tried for years. Not possible.
(You cite a clean and safe environment.....I value that. Leftists do not. It is not a disagreement over "how best to accomplish that").

But the USA can not sustain the country when the left enact their policies and Treasury bribes.
Look, Obama came in owing 9 trillion; he was given the national credit card and leaves owing 22 trillion and for what?

Murder....great right?
Rape-also awesome!
torturing children?
How about the ol bubonic plague? You a fan?
No? Then apparently you have a lot in common with leftists, you are just letting your partisanship get in the way of seeing it.
