At last, some sense may be starting to prevail.

It's over. The Remainers have won.

May is a complete disgrace.
I wouldn't want to be an MP having to go out and canvas support in most constituencies.

This could sadly all end up in violence and turmoil, as I see a lot of very very angry people out there.

Interesting by-election result in Wales yesterday.
Labour and Tories both losing votes heavily,UKIP on a surge and no increase in votes for anyone campaigning for either a second referendum or reversing Brexit.
Without Boris at the helm and with the new Brexit Party having hoovered up MEP seats in the European elections the next general election could see a wipeout for the Tories.

A combination of bad weather and disinterest I would say - but a portent of things to come.

May wrote asking for another extension, until June 30.

"Tusk is pushing the EU27 to offer a one-year “flexible” extension to article 50, with an option to leave earlier once the withdrawal agreement is ratified by parliament. He is said to have described the plan as “the only reasonable way out”.

To do anything beyond May 22 the UK will have to participate in the EU Parliamentary elections.

If the UK votes to participate in these elections, then Brexit is over and the people of the UK are betrayed. If the UK does not participate in these elections, Brexit is achieved.

As far as I can tell, nobody on the Labour side is even proposing participating in these elections and they certainly have not called for a vote to make it happen. Until they do, all the rest of this is just a lot of smoke.

If not even Labour will support participating in the EU Parliamentary elections, then it is not going to happen.

Teresa May is a disgrace to her government, her country and people. The Tory's, if they have any backbone left, should move to rid themselves of this woman. She has lied constantly about BRexit for the last 2 years.

She'll be remembered in the same light as Neville Chamberlain. Now she's kissing the ass of Germany & France just like then.

History is being made. The UK gives up its democracy. The people can vote, it means nothing.

Jeremy Corbyn, if he had any sense, would stand back, refuse to deal with May, and watch the Conservatives self destruct. There won't be anything left of the Conservative party after this.

The deadline for formal notice of election for the EU Parliamentary elections is next Friday, April 12, 2019 for Southwest England and Monday, April 15, 2019 for the rest of the country. This is why the EU settled on that particular date for their extension.

These notices have not gone out yet and it is still the formal policy of the UK that these elections will not be held. Of course contingency planning was underway for these elections going back to last year and everyone was ordered to high alert that these elections could very well happen and need to be prepared for by Theresa May today. But in fact the formal election notifications have not been issued yet.
UK faces deadline for European elections

If the UK is to take part in the European elections, the formal notice of election for the south-west England region - triggering the timetable for polling day - must be published no later than Friday April 12: a week today. This is because the south-west England region would include Gibraltar, whose deadline for its own election notice is April 12. Notices of elections in all other regions would need to be published no later than Monday April 15, according to the Electoral Commission.
