What nobody in this thread seems to get is that all humor exists in context, and that context is who has the power.
It's why white people making jokes with or about the n-word is almost never funny, but black people making the same jokes can be, because they are making fun of themselves. The white guy is making fun of a disenfranchised group. That's not funny. It's just crass and bullying -- at best.

I think what's funny, in a pathetic way, is that in the year 2016, there is a word in our language that society has been deemed so horrible that it must only be referred to by it's first letter.(unless, of course, you are allotted extra special First Amendment Rights as a black person).
In the Harry Potter books, the villain's name could not be said, with everyone calling him 'He who must not be named'.
Only as the characters grew some balls and faced the evil head on, did they grow up enough to actually say the name out loud...VOLDEMORT!!!
Maybe some day we will be grown up enough to be able to say ANY WORD out loud, free from the speech police.
If you say racist jokes and find them to be funny, chances are that you are a racist. Decent people find other things to joke about. It's as simple as that.
