Trump is ready to re-start a war on marijuana so that we can pay more taxes to fund the for-profit prison corporation scam!
I can't rep you again today but this is exactly why we
will have stronger and more harsh laws, profit for
private prisons.
Sad because these laws go across party lines and Trump
followers are too stupid to see it.
How does that work? How did Obama push criminals into your neighborhood, and how come he didn't push any into mine
It's called Affirmatively Affirming Fair Housing but who knows what all schemes Obama is deploying to diversify mostly white republican leaning working and middle class neighborhoods turning them into drug and crime infested dystopians. All I know for sure is 10,000s of people were moved into my area in a short period of time.
The worst aspects of the War on Drugs ended, particularly the insane minimum sentencing laws and "tough on crime" bull****.
Tell that to the 300,000 people in jail for drug possession.
And BTW, mandatory sentencing has not ended. Help me remember when Obama tried to end mandatory sentencing. Obama is the war on drugs leader, so he must hate black people (using your logic).

I wouldn't worry too much - because the pushback will absolutely be immense. As a Trump supporter, I can absolutely tell you that even if all the hardcore anti-drug Republicans on the planet get together, they'll never be able to stop the legalization of marijuana

This is true even if they teamed up with all the hardcore anti-drug Democrats (there are millions).
Seems he couldn't live up to his word and back it.
Trust me, if he had been even half serious about cracking down on medical pot, it would have been very easy for him to do. Heck, he even set up a medical marijuana research lab, and when neighboring States complained about Colorado legal pot, he defended Colorado. I don't know why you pretend he was at war against States legalizing it, and how it is even relevant to this discussion about the future of the drug war, which Trump seems to want to escalate.

If you read the article you'd know the trend has been towards more lenient sentencing, and courts, and even the president reducing the sentences of many minor non-violent offenders. It looks like this trend will be reversed by the Trump admin, who prefer "tough on crime" attitude, and expansion of mandatory minimum sentencing.
Arrests in the USA for drugs (80 - 85% were for possession) by year;
2015: 1.5 million
2014: 1.6 million
2013: 1.5 million
2012: 1.6 million
Wow. If that's "ending the war on drugs" you have me fooled.
In 2007 it was 1.85 million, but we all know arrests won't go anywhere as long as drugs are illegal. The discussion is about sentencing for minor drug offenses like possession of pot.
