A billionaire has indeed brought jobs back to this part of the Rust Belt, but not the one who promised to on the campaign trail.
His name is Cho Tak Wong; He goes by Mr. Cho.
The Chinese businessman says he expects to create 3,000 jobs in the former General Motors plant, which shut its doors in 2008, costing the area 1,000 jobs.
Ten percent of the jobs at the plant are held by Chinese employees. As for wages, the Fuyao jobs start in the $12 to $15-an-hour range. The old GM jobs at the same factory paid $30 an hour, but Mr. Cho said he is looking to raise the pay scale considerably.
Not good. But low paying job is still better than none I guess <shrug>

Any US investor/billionaire could have stepped up and try to do it. Alas nobody bothered, so I guess this is better then the alternative. Sadly so perhaps.

10% of the jobs go to the Chinese, I assume majority of the profit also goes to China.
I am not sure if this is really good for GM. But oh well.. At least he created 2700 low paying jobs for Americans.
That plant is a 30 minute drive from where I live and I know a few people who work there, and as far as jobs paying $12-15/hour being low wage? Seriously? Tell that to the people working at the Meijer store down the street making $8.05/hour.

We traded in a long storied American owned factory for a foreign Chinese owned at half the wages. That's winning right there . Of course these new workers won't need enough money to support a family. We can just bring in foreigners to populate. Win win win.
We gave away most of the American auto market and industry.

I hope this guy can increase the salary to $20/hour for American auto workers. All jokes aside, I hope this is a good move for GM. But who knows?
