After negotiations with Carrier, 2000 jobs that were to go to Mexico are staying in the U.S. Those jobs are in Indiana, another state that voted for Trump.

How did Trump change market forces what did taxpayers give up to keep Carrier in place, this wasn't philantrophy. Article indicates a majority of those 2000 jobs will stay, not all.

The devil is in the details.

What a fantastic Christmas present for them all. I'm sure there's going to be deep mistrust in that company, but they get to keep their jobs...thank goodness.
Quote:
Mr. Trump will be hard-pressed to alter the economic forces that have hammered the Rust Belt for decades, but forcing Carrier and its parent company, United Technologies, to reverse course is a powerful tactical strike that will rally his base even before he takes office.

In exchange for keeping the factory running in Indianapolis, Mr. Trump and Mr. Pence are expected to reiterate their campaign pledges to be friendlier to business by easing regulations and overhauling the corporate tax code. In addition, Mr. Trump is expected to tone down his rhetoric threatening 35 percent tariffs on companies like Carrier that shift production south of the border.
Hope that answers the previous question.

This can't be true, the dems have informed us that Trump has already gone back on all of this campaign promises.

Seriously, Trump hasn't even been inaugurated yet, and already has saved millions of jobs by stopping companies from leaving, and killing the TPP.

Did you look into the details of the Iran agreement? Did you even ask... I know you hate Trump even when he saved 2000 jobs.... you are being a good liberal... Merry Christmas...

The devil is in the details.
If Trumps deal involves cutting carriers taxes and regulatory hoopla, that would be a good thing. Now to do it for all others.
If he threatened them with a tariff, that is something else entirely and he has no biz doing that.
Really though presidents and the fed guv in general should have no say in where a private company chooses to do business.

I would imagine a very large part of that discussion was an outline of the policies he will be pushing that will detrimental to them if they move to Mexico and beneficial to them to stay here.

Easing taxes and regulations and no tariffs? Sounds good to me. Less government intervention is better.
