I think where Wall Street is concerned that is a very bi-partisan thing.

No they will not. Once there is a precedent like this set they are not going to reverse it. Look at abortion. They had the numbers but would not do it.

It's why the left has no hope with banning guns.

You do realize that the "something for free from the government" folks generally vote Republican/conservative, right?

On one end, you have the uber wealthy (Koch brothers, etc.) who want the Republican tax breaks, the rollback of regulations, permission to use government land and resources ...

On the other end, you have a ton of those who receive Food Stamps and other government assistance. The states that generally vote Republican, the red states, are, as luck would have it, the ones with the highest level of poverty, the highest percentage of Food Stamp recipients, etc.

With few exceptions, the red states are the ones who get more federal money back then they send in. The blue states are essentially subsidizing the red states.

Google this if you doubt me.

Obama allowed the DAPL pipeline. Without an alternative, you lose.

Discrimination? Nonsense. Employers offer vastly different benefit packages all the time.

My last employer did not allow spousal coverage as long as spouse had access to a plan at work costing 25% or less of gross pay as a payroll deduction. My present employer has no such restriction. Benefits are the employers choice.

Please, if court decisions do not ever get reversed we would not have gay marriage as a right.

Right. In 2008, democrats owned both house and senate and executive branch of government. For2 years, the U.S. Was rudderless without any mature foreign policy. And then you're blaming republicans... Classy

And segregation was upheld in many court cases over the years, as were bans on abortion.

And when Republicans did gain control of Congress the President refused to negotiate with them, instead sending up legislation that was sure to go nowhere.

Who was obstructionist again? Winning an election doesn't mean you have carte blanche, something many posters on here don't seem to understand.

I think the first jolt is going to be folks losing their ACA insurance. The number of people who want to get rid of Obamacare but don't realize it is the same as ACA is truly astounding. Trump may be waffling on this, but McConnell isn't.

Programs that help those who live around the poverty line will undoubtedly see cutbacks. These will land hard on a lot of red states -- Mississippi, Louisiana, West Virginia, Alabama, Georgia... as these are the states that receive the most per capita in Food Stamps and other government assistance.

Now whether the Republican base will wake up and smell the coffee or continue to blame everything on Obama and Bill Clinton remains to be seen.
I've experienced this first hand. My father (who lives in Louisiana) had no idea that they are one in the same. After I sat down and explained it to him his opinion suddenly changed and said they shouldn't get rid of it. He said that he always thought that the ACA was a good idea but "Obamacare" was evil incarnate. Imagine that.

The Republicans did a good job of making "Obama" a trigger word in the minds of the red state low information voter class. They're instantly opposed to anything with his name attached to it. Doesn't matter if it benefits them or not.
