Even if man-made "climate change" were true, how does raising taxes (read: more corruption, more government waste, etc) lower the temperature of the planet??

Would a liberal explain to me how giving more money to (already) billionaire men/billionaire companies will "lower the earth's temperature"?

Also, please explain to us why the so-called "green climate activists" do not practice what they preach and drive around in $50-$80k huge gas guzzling SUVs, huge gas guzzling limousines, gas guzzling private jets, have huge gas guzzling luxury boats, etc?

Please explain how less money in working folks pockets (due to more taxes/more regulations) will cause the temperature of the earth to go down?

Also please explain why "only" Western countries are required to increase taxes and regulations, while China and the third-world can pollute pollute pollute as much as they want and there's not a PEEP from you enviro-lefties/greenies

Thanks for clarifying

The above paragraph is untrue.

China and Climate Change | Center for Climate and Energy Solutions

Quote:
China has been the world’s largest greenhouse gas (GHG) emitter since 2006. Under the 2009 Copenhagen Accord, China pledged to reduce its emissions intensity by 40-45 percent from 2005 levels by 2020. In a joint announcement with the United States in Beijing in November 2014, China announced two new goals: peaking greenhouse gas emissions by around 2030, and increasing non-fossil sources to 20 percent of total energy by 2030. China later included these two goals in its intended nationally determined contribution (INDC) to the new international climate agreement to be concluded in Paris in December 2015, along with a goal of reducing carbon intensity 60-65 percent below 2005 levels by 2030.
China is participating in these accords.

Because the tax makes using dirty fuels more* expensive, it encourages utilities, businesses and individuals to reduce consumption and increase energy efficiency. Carbon tax also makes alternative energy more cost-competitive with cheaper, polluting fuels like coal, natural gas and oil.

That is not how a carbon tax works, at least not the tax we have had in BC since 2008.....It is revenue neutral, which means that 100% of the tax collected is returned to tax payers through reduced income and business taxes. All You Need to Know About BC

Really? You think I have my own jet and luxury boat etc.? Most of us do practice responsible living.

If there is less money in peoples pockets, then they are implementing the tax wrong....Check the link above.

This is just not true.....COP21 | 188 countries have committed to reducing their greenhouse gas emissions

PS...Your condescending style (enviro-lefties/greenies) tells me that you are not seriously interested in the answers to your questions, which I answered not for you, but for the benefit of other readers.

No one is claiming that "raising taxes" would actually impact the environment directly. Some believe that if taxes are raised on carbon emissions, this will incentive the use of alternative energy. Now, rather or not you support this, there is merit to the idea given that high taxes on tobacco do play a role in getting people to stop smoking. Those taxes don't prevent lung cancer though.

I'd like to know what sort of sample size you're using for your climate activists who use large sums of fuel. Hand picking a handful of people who are like that isn't really beneficial to making a claim about a whole. Some Trump voters are absolutely white supremacists. By your logic, you have to agree with the statement that all are because some are, correct? Or your initial logic is faulty.

Western countries are also not the only ones interested in combating climate change. Though even if they were, this doesn't actually mean anything, does it? For a time, Western countries were among the few promoting women's rights. Does this mean that women's rights is bad since a statistical minority of nations initially supported it?

If you make everyone too poor to have cars or air conditioning it will drastically reduce CO2 emissions.

It doesn't. It's just another way to make people poorer while enriching govt and it's cronies with using a supposedly noble cause as an excuse. Those who buy it are either in on the scam or too dumb to see it.

What if the tree huggers are right and the deniers are wrong? What then?

Using aggression to enforce your viewpoint is wrong. Even if your viewpoint is right.

It is not a question of who is right and who is wrong. We are beyond that now and have been for a long time.

Out of curiosity, what is a 'tree hugger' to you?
