Ok...15 mpg...not efficient. 30 mpg...more efficient. How's that? Of course not everyone has access to PT, but many do. Those who can should use it if they care about the price of gas. Those can should move to areas where there is public transportation if the price of gas is onerous to their budget or if they want to make a statement.

We would all love to get 30 mpg, but there are very few vehicles on the road that even get close to it, none of them meet my needs.

Our SUV's get about 26 in town. Not bad.

And, moving is not an option for many.

AND, there are many, many cars that get less MPG than SUV's - what about the cars - like that new 500+HP Caddy or Corvette?

I can't begin to guess what your needs are, but these SUVS get 30-39 mpg...

2007 Ford Escape, Jeep Compass, Jeep Patriot, Toyota RAV4....

26 is pretty good. That's what mine gets. No one says you have to move, or ride a bike, or even get a car with good gas mileage. BUT..as the OP said, if gas is too expensive, you CAN do something about it. You don't have to be a puppet of the gas companies...unless you want to, that is...

May I ask, why are you not also criticizing the automobiles with lower fuel economy?

I dont consider any of those SUVs, they are nothing but station wagons..

Perhapse I want a vehicle big enough to put a dresser, or a sheet of drywall in it.

I dont see a cross-over as an SUV. Their is very little increase in storage going from a full size car to a mini-suv.

I live in a rural area - riding a bike is not an option for any commute. There is no mass transit. 26 is Good gas mileage.

I for one don't mind paying it -

Nobody wants to hold the Bush crime family accountable for their mass robbery of the American people to benefit themselves and their oil buddies. If you don't believe Bush is responsible, just research oil future trading and how one of the first things Bush did when he took office was deregulate it allowing for the price run-up we've seen.

When Clinton left office, gas was $1.20, today its $4 and could possibly be $5 this summer. I strongly do not believe supply and demand is the real issue, I think its an artificially inflated price to benefit the oil companies and the Bush family, but lets say the oil is running out and these prices are justified, why isn't there more of an initiative to implement an alternative energy, of which there are several choices? I am sick of paying $80 to fill up my tank when not long ago it only costed $20, but I don't see anybody else getting upset about it.
Because I don't drive.
