Imagine that AMLO wins the election, how far will he take his anti-US rhetoric as a backlash against Trump? Imagine the day China and Russia would be allowed to station missile silos or missile defense against US nukes on Mexican soil, or station their Navies in ports all along Mexico and patrol off our coasts? And all because a loudmouth like Trump is ruining any relationship and goodwill we had with our neighbor. Scary times to be alive. It'll be the day when we have what is tantamount to a reverse NATO, comprised of Russian and Chinese soldiers, shoring up along our border on Mexican soil, just like how we send NATO troops to the door of Russia.

Even if that doesn't happen, what else could AMLO do? He could also unleash a title wave of illegal immigrant to the US border (who, even with a wall in place, will eventually find ways across the border).

This is exactly what I was getting at in my "We can't wall ourselves off from the world" thread that I posted earlier today. People don't seem to grasp that we are practically handing China and Russia a void that they will happily fill. We're literally inviting Russia and China to set up camp at our doorstep. The anti-American regimes in Latin America are just itching for an "Ugly American" that they can use as a foil to rile the masses.

Donald Trump is going to lead to a resurgence in the so called "Pink Tide" in Latin America ... and the results are not going to be pretty.

80% of Mexican exports are to the United States. They are completely economically dependent on the US. Something they should seriously consider before making any rash decisions.

Trump is trying to stop the appeasement the USA has been doing for a long time. Countries have been taking advantage of us too long, via finances and security. Its costing the USA lots of money, time and lives with no return of investment.
Sorry that some people cant see that we need to shift gears and put the USA back out front..

If you think that Trump is going to stop demand for fruits and vegetables, you're nuts. Don't forget over 10% of the US's exports go to Mexico too.

Trade wars work both ways.

A lot of those exports are component parts that are used in American factories such as auto manufacturers. So a trade war would also hurt the U.S. companies, which in turn could either raise prices to U.S. consumers, or there could be temporary layoffs due to a shortage of parts. Not a good situation to put the country in by destabilizing the economy.

80% vs 10%. Hmm. Sounds like one of the 2 countries will survive.
