25 are up for reelection with 10 being from Red States.

Dems better start learning to compromise and work the old ways or the Senate will be a bright red in color.

I think McCaskill is a lame duck already. Manchin will probably eventually switch parties. Coons and Durbin are surprising though, Durbin especially.

If the Democrats fold-up and endorse this nominee and he swings the SCOTUS vote to overturn Roe vs. Wade, the country will be thrown into civil war. This is a time when they have to think of the welfare of the people of this nation and not just about their re-election prospects. If these senators become turncoats and wag their tails like little puppydogs for the Republicans, their party will be really lost. I think that their re-election chances will actually be reduced, if they support any of this fascist's nominees.

And if they say no?

Your Gas and Oil Party will just change the rules and approve anyways 52-48. So what's the point? GOP power grab is clearly showing here.

I think they should accept him. He seems qualified enough and not an extreme conservative. I think he is the best one they can get right now.

I honestly don't think he would overturn Roe at all based on his record. Of course you never know, but he has never given a judgment on abortion that I am aware of. Also, his opinion regarding the Hobby Lobby case, IMO that had more to do with religion and not the "rights of the unborn." I am inclined to believe he truly is focused on the constitution based on some additional digging I've done on him. Contrary to what the anti-abortionists like to say, no one is a "citizen" until they are born. Fetuses do not have "rights" because they have not been born.

Of course the guy could take a differing viewpoint but the Constitution doesn't talk about the rights of fetuses or embryos and if one is a constitutionalist, I don't see how they can interpret the legality of making abortion illegal.

I do agree with Steve though that people will lose their sh_t if Roe gets overturned - myself included.

Democrats set the rule for changing rules on Presidential appointments.

Thanks Reid!

I don't think that Anthony Kennedy would overturn Roe v. Wade, and am not 100% sure John Roberts would do it. I think the Democrats are going to save their fight for the potential replacement of Anthony Kennedy this summer that has been alluded to a number of times, or if Ruth Bader-Ginsburg kicks the bucket, especially if the rumor that the next Supreme Court nominee will be Ted Cruz is true.
