Sanctuary Cities Received $27 Billion From Feds Each Year

Sanctuary cities receive over $27 billion each year from the federal government, giving President Donald Trump significant leverage over cities such as New York and San Francisco to enforce immigration law, according to a new report.

...
Twenty-two percent of the roughly 11 million illegal immigrants in the United States live in just 12 American cities, according to the report. Those cities, which include New York, Philadelphia, and San Francisco, received $15.983 billion in federal funds.

...
The majority of federal funding went to local police and fire departments, schools, housing, and city services, via grants worth $21.5 billion. Another $4.23 billion in direct payments went towards housing, education, community development, and schools.

So following the money... people pay taxes ... $27B of the tax money goes to cities to support the infrastructure in major cities to house people here illegally, otherwise those cities would never be able to foot the bill themselves to support the illegals. Is it any surprise that those cities overwhelmingly vote for more government?

Probably one of the reasons they loathe Trump. Even your regular squishy Republican would not take this on.

The report... Federal Funding of America's Sanctuary Cities

Someone explain to me why we spend money guarding a border and then spending money to create a honey pot to draw them in. If this is not game what is?

I can't wait. I will believe it when the federal funds have been cut to the sanctuary cities.

They deserve to lose federal funding, they are breaking the law and aiding in criminal behavior and thumbing their noses at their federal government.

http://www.scpr.org/news/2016/12/07/...nctuary-citie/

I have been in Santa Ana several times and Spanish-language gang graffiti covers the vacant storefronts, many of the residents put on a macho, bravado act and the city is dirty looking with lots of tiny, run down homes that have many vehicles parked in front of small houses.

The federal government should cut off funding to these cities like Santa Ana that are trying to become third-world cities.

I am sure the liberals though will have an excuse to raise the already socialist level taxes. Liberals love an excuse to raise taxes on hard-working Americans and seniors and this will be their excuse for raising taxes again.

Question for the Left and the Doubters.

Loretta Lynch AND the Obama Administration signed off on the Legality of this "refuse funding" on 3 Federal Grant Programs. They informed the States and Cities of the issue on May 30, 2016 & warned them they would lose the funding under their current policy OR if they became a Sanctuary City.

The Question is ...... do you think that the US Attorney General and the DOJ under the Obama Administration is wrong and would have done that if they thought it was not Legal and Valid?

I don't see how cities can take money and simultaneously violate federal immigration laws.

Federal law trumps state law.

Americans outside of California get the best worlds they get set California for a loss of federal funds and yet get to enjoy California tax revenue.
