This is a much needed protection from predatory landlords. Kudos to David Chiu for proposing this.

Predatory landlords? People that committed crimes by illegally entering a country... you liberals are so silly.. always blaming the other people for a criminals actions.

Unenforceable. The landlords will simply call immigration and at least while Trump is president, no one is going to rat them out.

If a landlord would do a proper background check they would not have a problem.

If the tenant brings in illegals not on the lease the landlord can evict.

The landlord here does not care that he is renting to an illegal. He's fine with it. A dollar is a dollar is a dollar.

He threatens them that if they now don't give him two dollars he will report them as illegal. A new law isn't going to stop that. The threat is understood without the landlord saying anything.

"I want double the rent next month" No threat but it's understood.
