This makes total sense given the fact that the administration is teetering on failure.

Since “the people” had elected Obama to a second term and the president selects nominees, that didn’t make any sense. Eventually, McConnell’s position was rejiggered to: hearings should not be held during a presidential election campaign (which lasts more than a year) or during a president’s final year in office, depending on how one untangled the justification.

Either way, “a year” seems to be key.

Tell it to the hand!

Dems are way past teetering on failure, having toppled over last November and lost their way. As obama relied on the removal of past Ooops with the help of his propaganda machine, the dems today forget the demands and logic they used. And in a lapse of memory, blame the repubs for following in the dem's footsteps.

Vice President Joseph R. Biden Jr. argued that President George Bush should delay filling a Supreme Court vacancy, should one arise, until the presidential election was over, and that it was “essential” that the Senate refuse to confirm a nominee to the court until then.

"Sen. Chuck Schumer said in July 2007 that no George W. Bush nominee to the Supreme Court should be approved, except in extraordinary circumstances, 19 months before a new president was set to be inaugurated."

"We should not confirm any Bush nominee to the Supreme Court, except in extraordinary circumstances," Schumer, a New York Democrat, said in prepared remarks to the American Constitution Society, a liberal legal organization."

Why should anyone play within the spirit of reason anymore? Republicans obliterated that philosophy long ago.

Not yet. But given the mess of his first four weeks and his approvals eroding even into his base, it could certainly happen within a year. They still have Pence, whom they like much more than Trump.

That's what I like about you dems, despite being wrong about literally everything you ever said about Trump for the last two years, so still remain optimistic.
