Body cameras for police are getting smarter (rating, town, thoughts)

In the last year many have called for all of our police wearing body cameras. Of course that was to make police accountable for any wrong doings. Now they are talking about smart cameras with facial recognition that could help identify fugitives: AI-Powered Body Cams Give Cops The Power To Google Everything They See - Vocativ. I have to wonder if the same groups that advocated the body cameras will not have second thoughts? Just think of our police at social functions, sport's events, and political protest that can pick the 'villains' out of the crowd.

This brings to mind the sci-fi movies demonstrating optical devices that recognize and display data about persons of interest within view.

Not quite the same thing but several of the cop cars in my town have camera\sensors that are constantly reading license plates of cars and searching to see if they're stolen, warrants out for driver etc etc.

Seems like a good idea. They will have a "real time" video of say LWNJ protesters destroying property and can do a quick facial recognition search, rather than needing to cuff every scumbag at the scene.
