Tough situation. I think , behind closed doors, they have agreed to wait it out and let him keep screwing up himself. He is his own worst enemy, and if they have some patience, he will do himself in. Then it will make it easier to move in and oust him.
I don't think more than a few of the Congressional Republicans have the spine to stand up for anything that is right. Their party has been circling the bowl for many decades, but they've managed to keep weaseling their way into a means to survive, by hook or crook. This time, they let too much get out from under their control and despite their dire situation, don't have the will to bring down this pretender to the throne. He will be allowed to carry-out his destruction and only if enough of our country remains intact, will we survive.

He reminds me of an angry, anti-social brat in my kindergarten class. Whenever any others built up structures with building blocks in the play area, he would rush in and knock them all down, laughing all the time. The teachers were afraid of him-------imagine that, a 5-year old kid! His father was a bully, known for picking fights and the teachers forbid us from doing anything that might agitate him or his father. He was a menace that the Establishment would not sanction and the rest of us had to tolerate him. We were threatened with expulsion, if we said a word or lifted a finger against him. A bit more than a year later, this whole thing was decisively resolved, but that's another story.

The question is, when many republicans start begging to put this all behind them, will the rest of us show them any kindness and forgiveness?

I love it that the LWLTs on here continue to live and preach this delusion. Makes Trump a lock in 2020, and then Pence in 2024 and 2028.

Keep up the good work!!

Awe Your pronouncement is rather early, isn't it? there's 3.66 years before next voting for next POTUS..and a lot can happen in the next 3 and half years... The past 30 days since Inauguration kind of give a hint how leading, governing by Federal Congress and WH will be received. Perhaps come next midterm come 21 months from now outcomes may paint a very different picture.

Demonizing opposition on every level won't work forever. After 1.75 years of demonizations pre and post election is already wearing VERY VERY thin ..just like Trump's epidermis ..

I don't envy him.. dermabrasion isn't recommended with Trump's complexion. He's weak both inside and out as his behaviour exposes daily... So will look forward to how confident you will be when the reckoning comes to fruition

Not your problem since you're a Canadian looking at where you live. You have Justin to deal with and, please keep him in Canada. Just like if Trump does or says something stupid while in Canada; your country has the right to kick him out. Period.

AWE~~ Bless your heart

Guess, Trump's decisions don't directly affect anyone else but Americans, eh? Sure... kind of explains why some actually believe such a thing. International allies right now have low confidence level right now all due to Trump's words. Words and attitudes do have consequences .. and IF you think I have no bone in this... I am a Vietnam Vet widow... who actually did give a contribution to YOUR Country.

AS for Bieber > I couldn't give a care about some self-entitled idiot who got his ego blown out of proportion! He's nothing more than a self-indulgent delinquent who will likely turn out like other's like him!!

Again here is the problem; having against all predicted odds the GOP finds themselves in total control, fine enough one supposes, but now they must govern and manage to keep that control. No easy thing with an electorate as volatile as America's has been over the past few decades.

It also isn't helping that thus far democrats aren't taking the bait to join any "bi-partisan" effort by GOP on things like ACA, tax reform, immigration, etc... So the senate and House will have to go it alone meaning whatever emerges will have their names on it for eternity.

The GOP cause isn't helped that the de facto "leader" is a buffoon, braggart, and quite possibly mentally unstable individual who would likely throw his own mother under a bus if it served his own goals.

DT may not know what he wants policy wise as POTUS, but His Orangeness does know he wants to be re-elected. Thus if whatever comes out of the GOP Congress that could imperil those chances may or may not be signed into law. His Orangeness is like a woman with a bad case of PMS, you don't know what his mood or whatever will be from hour to hour or day to day. If you are a House member you're likely thinking seriously about sticking your neck out while wondering if the party much less POTUS will have your back.

All this is playing out while the republicans do what they have done for the past twelve years or more; squabble amongst themselves like fractions of warring tribes instead of cohesive political party.

Mr. Paul Ryan finds himself in the exact position as his predecessor; trying to herd a pack of cats. It will be telling going forward if PR will have to turn to Nancy Pelosi and democrats in order to get votes needed to move things out of the House.

In any event there isn't much time for the GOP to get their act together.

Whatever is going to happen regarding ACA, tax reform and perhaps immigration needs to do so before this year is out. Once the 2018 election cycle starts it is pretty much a given no major legislation will come out of Congress.
