What nonsense. Seriously, why do folks think this? Should people say equally wrong things about Republicans?

What's clear, is that if you aren't white, the Republican Party has zero use for you unless you are one of these subservient, self loathing, ashamed-of-your-own-skin non-whites.

Following the common rhetoric being used, thats as equally valid to say. And equally completely wrong.

If you don't think that Sally Boynton Brown's extreme hatred of the white race is representative of the base of the Democrat party at the moment, you must be really out of the loop.

Trumbull Co OH has been trending red slowly (or perhaps less blue) as the old Dem guard dies and parts of it are more and more generic white suburban.

I just call it based on what I see.

The NYT article posted earlier said as much. It said, and I quote, " Democrats should quit focusing on the wrong whites"...

Somewhere on here there was an article about someone that said "we don't need whites running the Democrat party"

The Democrats, when they aren't blaming Russia or Comey for their FBI loss, blame the "racist" whites.

Van Jones claimed Trump's election was a "white-lash" against a changing ( demographically ) country and a black president.

What is one to think?

A time-tested tactic for the right, whether they be Dixiecrats in the past, or Republicans in the present, is to appeal to the fears and prejudices of uneducated whites by using racially or culturally charged language in their appeals. That's known as dog whistle politics. The Southern Segs used it, George Wallace used it, and now Donald Trump uses it.

Whites repulsed by this tactic are not guilt ridden, or self loathing or ashamed of our own skin. Our only shame is that we share the same racial identity as the imbeciles who those tactics appeal to.

After four years of the GOP disaster the citizens will be looking for ANYONE to set things right again.

Baloney. HRC called those who didn't drool over her deplorables, told coal workers she would kill heir jobs while smiling, and Obama told us rural folks cling to guns and religion.

The Dems can tell white rural folks they hate them as they have done, but those people correctly old HRC to shove it, and will continue dissing the racist Democratic party. The same Democratic party that founded the KKK, and was the heart of Jim Crow policies.

It's the Grim Reaper at work. You can count on that percentage dropping to somewhere between 67-70% in 2020 with all of the decline in white non-college. As far as the growth of electoral votes of Red States is concerned, that might help the GOP in the short run, but virtually all of that growth is in minority voters. Look at the kids in grade school in the Sunbelt. Those are your future voters.

As far as NAFTA, TPP or tariffs are concerned, the overall effect of building trade barriers is far more likely to negatively affect more voters than it helps. What percentage of voters might trade barriers help? 10%, 20%?
Only a relatively few voters would benefit from those policies. Everybody else, as consumers, would be hurt by higher prices for goods and services, and they vote too.

The poster I was responding to made the comment that with Trump's victory the GOP could rule for the next 50 years. I was merely pointing out that you can't depend on an unprecedented period of dominance by counting on dominating the one demographic (white non-college) that is dropping like clockwork. The GOP has to expand their base to have sustained success. If the Dems can maintain between 35-39% of the white non-Hispanic vote, which they can do by breaking even with white college, and maintain their current edges with minority groups, they should remain competitive at the national level, even if they don't win back white non-college. This isn't the Reagan Era, and the impact of those blue collar non-college voters is going to continue to fall as their percentage of total registrations falls.

Not anywhere near that low where it matters.

Lol, a Democrat complaining about the use of identity politics is truly rich....

If the "Right" does use this strategy, they only learned it from those who perfected it.... Democrats. Only Democrats do it in reverse, to appeal to the fears of minorities by using racially and culturally charged rhetoric.

Prime example....

No, it isn't. Dog whistle politics is when you try and conceal a message to be interpreted by a certain group a certain way... I'm saying it straight up, in your face, Democrats despise white people who aren't ashamed of being white.
