Where is what I think, at least in CA:

affluent small towns (tourist towns, small rural bedroom communities, etc...)
-Migrating to: retirees, wealthy ranchers, and some who can work remotely moving there for peace and quiet and land. some doctors, lawyers, and few profession jobs. Leaving them are young graduating high schoolers and college students to affluent cities or suburbs.

working class towns (farming communities, lower income bedroom communities, etc..)
-becoming commuter towns that are hour or more out from affluent cities. farming communities. Many can't leave. Many being forced here by not being able to live closer to work or able to find skilled work.

Working class cities: usually a small wealthy upper class that live here for low cost of housing. Most live here are stuck here. Some may leave to the affluent small towns serving retirees and tourists in the service sector.

Affluent cities: drawing educated workers from all over and ones from affluent small towns and elite colleges.
