I thought it was Trump at his finest. He spoke with a measure of civility, quiet dignity, and professionalism, but most important of all, sincerity. There wasn't any of that sense of being fake compared to prior presidents. Trump spoke from the heart and it really showed.
I don't like Trump but I thought he gave a decent speech. I'm impressed that there is someone behind the scenes who is able to get through to him that he needs to stop the ranting and name calling. Someone told him he has to act like a President. Someone wrote him a good speech. And to Trump's credit, he paid attention and went ahead and did it.
The media are not bashing him now. They bashed him when he deserved it, but not now. And we don't have to be embarrassed now, at least for the time being.
ehhhh...
Progress is putting people back to work! You know......"Work" as in "Jobs".
At all costs?.... Eliminating regulations on controlling what is dumped in our streams is what is giving coal industry their jobs back. Let's drop some contaminants in our water supply but everyone is working -- There has got to be a better way. We are a little more sophisticated and advanced than this.
You can encourage jobs by introducing new technologies. The USA needs to be the front runner in something -- make it good, clean energy. Why is it such a bad thing to want to keep the planet semi- habitable?
It saddens me to see the Democratic Party, who represented the common man, completely in rubble and destroyed but a group of mental defects that represent 3% of the country. This speech was about as bi-partisan as you can get. They couldn't even applaud jobs for Americans.
Good riddens and hopefully what ever Party rises from
The ashes has a better focus.
So what? The women Democrats dressed in white. Surely you can come up with a better criticism than that. Oh no, you can't; they are women, and a woman is nothing but her appearance, right? Anyway, Trump gave a great speech. I think calling out Carryn Owens was political pandering, however. His speech was long on hyperbole and short on specifics. I wonder how he thinks he will pay for all his grandiose ideas. Perhaps his billionaire cabinet appointees will make some donations to his pet causes
Trump didn't give a great speech. His speech writer gave a great speech. The only thing he did was sedate his inner crazy and uncontrollable need to go off the deep end, and read the teleprompter in front of him. Additionally, any person can do a quick online search and see that during his presidential campaign, he repeatedly and openly mocked the ability to "act presidential", stating that he could do so at any point in time. Feel free to do a search online and look for his speech from when he was campaigning in Waterbury, Connecticut. This was a perfect example.
The only thing Trump did last night was do exactly what he said he could do: play the part.
Folks, don't be deceived: You can dress a jack ass up to look like a champion horse. But at the end of the day, it's still a jackass. Nothing more.
I have watched many state of the union addresses and never thought any of them were great. Trump simply read a speech from a teleprompter (remember what pubs said about reading from a teleprompter). This is just like a high school graduation. It is something that is expected by most and applauded when a low achiever does it. We have really lowered out standards when a president gets kudo's for acting like a president.
