Most people think that mobile phones calls are all done by satellite, when in reality all calls are relayed in to fibre optic cables which operate eight times faster and are equivalent to the speed of light. Phone calls and internet messages includung US domestic traffic are part of a vast global network and are relayed via networks across the globe, a simple domestic phone call from say Florida could be relayed half way across the world and the same applies to the internet. This allows anyone who taps in to the global network of submarine cables and fibre optics access to US Communications.

In terms of the satellite communications, which are now far less important due to the advent of fibre optics, they continue to be picked up by vast dishes and monitoring equipment.
I think many are getting too wrapped up in, and arguing about a simple label called "wire tapping". This term really doesn't specifically apply in it's original definition to today's world of tech and communications, I think most here understand that.
I would suggest that the word "wire tap" is being used in place of the more accurate "digital surveillance" or other such term one might want to use.

As I recall, President Obama was elected on telling us how he was going to give Americans Hope & Change. He didn't tell us that would be by taking away health insurance from half Americans and giving it to the other half. We certainly didn't know he had planned to overwhelm small towns with illegal immigrants and then call them refugees. I think there should be punishment for putting half of us without health insurance

President Trump is doing what he said he would do.......seems some are mad that their free ride is gone, at least for 4 years.

Right. "Wire tap" has become a generic term, not a literal term.

I think this one is different because it is such a serious charge.

The guy in the WH accused the last POTUS of 'wiretapping' him and called him "sick and bad," based on some nutjob radio hosts.

He basically accused him of a felony. Trump opened a can of worms he probably will regret. Obama had no power to order a wiretap. Trump probably thought there would be a quiet private investigation into this and if there was nothing there--people would have forgotten about it in a few months. But this will be public and loud. Trump is not going to like it.

If there are in fact FISA warrants (a term that the alt-right tosses around so casually that there have been posts on the board about "Fiser warrants"), information may come to light that Trump would prefer not. Evidence could lead to the subpoena of his tax returns if there are financial entanglements with other countries.

Trump had probably never heard of a Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act warrant when he made those tweets.

In addition, how strange is it that Trump tweeted these accusations out after it being raged about on alt-right media, and then went on to tweet about a celebrity's tv ratings. If a president read classified information that the former president had "wiretapped" him, wouldn't he immediately be on the phone with the DOJ attempting to get more information, rather than tweeting out stupid accusations to the entire world?

If it turns out that Trump tweeted a lie in anger due to alt right media (as it is looking), then he will most definitely owe Obama an apology, and there will be many Americans demanding it.

If he did not apologize and admit he was in error, he would not only look like an idiot, but nobody will ever believe anything he has to say. Though there are many who already do not believe him, there will be many many more.

The best punishment for him is not something we would impose, it is the way he shoots himself in the foot a little more every time he does lie. He is like the boy who cried wolf too many times, and each time he loses a lot more credibility each time. And he keeps on doing it, knowing it will bite him in the butt each time.

Here's some news for you, friend. There isn't a politician out there who isn't, to some degree, sociopathic. We've created a system that glorifies lying or at least not telling 'all the truth that is known' .. and we named it 'politics'!

I'd love to hear conservative opinions on this.

Republicans, what do you feel should happen to Trump if is is proven without a doubt that Trump lied? Again, one of the biggest accusations if a sitting president in American history.

And please, ACTUALLY ANSWER THE QUESTION. Don't ignore it and then respond with something about Obama. What should happen to Trump if it turned out his huge accusation was completely false and it's proven he LIED.

No problem at all, No President should be above the law! We screwed up when we didn't march on Washington and thrown Nixon out! Since then every President has been corrupt! We have the government we deserve, because we allow all the crap!

The people should have marched on Washington and demanded better nominees for this last election, but first of all we need to demand that there is a qualification test for every candidate to pass, instead of allowing asinine cowboy actors, and TV show hosts to even run, and do away with the hundreds of politicians/leeches in government and instead create a parliament, and put government criminals in prison where they belong. Maybe we should bring back public hangings!

If it is proven that Hillary kept classified documents on her email server, does she just get away with it?

If it is proven that Oblubber illegally wiretapped Trump for political purposes, does he just get away with it?

If "If you like your doctor you can keep your doctor" was a lie....

It was about a Youtube video....

Lerner's emails were "lost"....

The corruption and lies from the Obama administration far exceed ANYTHING ever to come from Trump.
