Seniors vote..and most have limited incomes....this bill is DOA....and so are a lot of the people who depend on public healthcare..ie..medicare.
Next: an example of someone who's paying over $10k/yr in ObamaCare and who's premium will go down to $3k/yr.

That's the core issue we have to deal with today. Not enough wage inflation the last generation.

If we can't keep enough people in work in the future due to AI and other technologies replacing jobs, more of that money will need to be created centrally and doled out as a Uniform Basic Income.

As long as our standard of living is stable or better, that is most important.

I don't doubt that you could cherry pick some case and present it...I do doubt that your example would be a 60 year old man with heart disease who makes 28,000 a year.

Face it, the ACA was mostly beneficial to the working poor who were over 40...it taxed the young and healthy to pay for medical care for the older and the sick.

The thing is...we're an aging population....and the majority of those over 40 with less than 60,000 a year don't want to lose what little safety net they have.

The bill is never going to pass.

The problem with ACA was that the majority of Americans was sponsoring a relatively small group of uninsured. I feel bad for them losing their insurance, but there must be a better way.

Except that doesn't happen. The purchasing price of the dollar has been falling for a long time.

The majority of those people could not afford the deductibles.

Here's your free car. BTW, it must use special fuel that costs $100 a gallon.

They already had 6 years. How many more years.

If you listen to Mike Pence, Paul Ryan, Mick Mulvaney and Trump they are stating this is a wonderful bill, but pretty much anyone else is pointing out some giant faults. How do they sell something that is obviously so slanted towards benefitting the rich. I saw one study that indicated around 40% of the benefits would go to the top 1% by 2022

Companies and investors would see big benefits too. The Republicans’ plan removes $145 billion in taxes on health insurers, $158 billion on investment income for top earners, $25 billion on drug companies and $20 billion medical device companies.
While businesses in the health care sector have so far been skeptical of the health plan, the bill also comes with some sweeteners. One that has drawn particular outrage among defenders of the Affordable Care Act is a provision that would give health insurers greater incentives to give their executives raises by eliminating the health plan’s cap on compensation deductions.

I see this meme all the time and it is BS. We who were priced out of the market before the ACA faced bills in the tens to hundreds of thousands of dollars if we needed medical care without any insurance. We will take a $4,000 deductible over a $100,000 hospital bill every day. That is doable and manageable to pay over time. A bill in the six figures is not.

I see a lot of people advocating for the GOP to do nothing and simply let the ACA fail under the weight of inaction. The problem with that is that the Republicans would take the full weight of blame, since they are the ones that, A, hold both Houses of Congress and the White House, and thus have the power to do something; and B, they promised everyone that they had a plan to replace the ACA.

It will be the GOP who bears the brunt of blame going forward no matter what happens now.
