The Trump-Russia Scandal Continues to Unfold

In an exclusive AP report, former Trump campaign manager Paul Manafort worked for a close Putin associate to draw up strategic plans to disrupt pro-Western governments in Eastern Europe to benefit Russian interests. Manafort was wired millions of dollars to the work, which later became the subject of a lawsuit in the Cayman Islands.

Previously the Trump administration and Manafort denied he had any links to Russia. This new report disputes that.

Now we have a link between Trump and Putin's inner circle, with Manafort as the middle man. Manafort was campaign manager around the time Russia hacked the DNC. Roger Stone admitted he had a back door line of communication with WikiLeaks. The pieces are coming together.

And yet republican Comey probably knew all this before the election and he said nothing.

Check this bloomberg article. There is lot of smoke in CrowdStrike report. Isn't FBI suppose to have their own investigation instead of going with victim narrative?

Exactly. Comey's in a tight spot: he knows his staff is uncovering tons of dirt on Trump and his associates. He also knows that if he tries to cover it up, his staff will leak it anyway.

Regardless, the FBI investigation has elevated Trump-Russia from nagging headlines to full blown scandal.

Sen. Mark Warner wants to bring in Manafort to testify. They better get to him fast before he mysteriously dies of polonium poisoning.

Maybe the FBI will offer Manafort immunity in exchange for some juicy testimony about Trump's knowledge or involvement in the Russia-DNC hacking?

The big question is why would his staff try to cover it up if it is a crime or if the Trump team flat out lied to the American people. Not sure what is in it for Comey or anyone on the investigative team to keep this under wraps.

Partisanship probably. Same reason Republicans in Congress care more about potential leaks than they do about a Russian agent in the White House.
