The Vietnam War, the Hanoi Hilton, and American prisoners of war being tortured by the North Vietnamese until they broke...and all American POWs eventually broke. I do remember that the POWs were each forced to sign "confessions" and some were even filmed for propaganda purposes. One American POW even read his "confession" for the movie camera..all the while waving his crossed fingers in the air.

Anyone who dredged up a recording of John McCain's propaganda "confession" either is ignorant of what American POWs endured, or doesn't care...

Perhaps you should give it a try and see if you'd get over it.

It has Trumpterism stamped all over it.

Another trick from the dirty kitbag.

So because he's a former POW he gets a pass for the rest of his life to be a political HACK that turns any direction the wind blows?

Not in my book, two different things. HE SUCKS as a legislator plain and simple. He needs to retire, preferably tomorrow.

Saw this comment on another website:

McCain is alleged by other POW’s to have been given the nickname “song bird”, for he would tell the Vietnamese whatever they wanted not to be tortured.

You guys dragged this out in 2008 when he was running against Obama. In fact, some of the same people who are aghast today were shouting from the rooftops about it then.

So save the "outrage".

Agreed. I recall the Vietnam war, and of the news about the POWs and their 'confessions'. I still admire Senator McCain for coming through his experience with mind and emotions intact (although I would not be surprised if he had undergone therapy at some point).

However, we must recall that those that seek to portray Senator McCain in a negative light, will hold up for approval one Donald John Trump, whom they say would have been a Rambo Killing Machine in Vietnam, if only he did not have that pesky bone spur in the heel of a foot: he cannot recall which one.

You think that its funny?

Seriously?

John McCain suffered multiple fractures when he ejected from his plane, his captors added more injuries after he was caught. He was tortured for a confession and left for dead until it was discovered that he was the son of an American admiral, after which the North Vietnamese gave him enough medical care to keep him alive.

In a propaganda effort, the North Vietnamese offered McCain, as the son of the commander of American Forces in Vietnam, an early release. If McCain had accepted, he would have been sent back to the States and would have received proper medical treatment for the injuries and subsequent illnesses that nearly killed him. He also would have enabled the North Vietnamese to show the other POWs that the American military valued the sons of their elite more than the other service personnel.

McCain is a hero because he refused to accept early release, denying the propaganda victory that his captors sought.
