Wow--if an urbanite made a statement like that, they would be called 'liberal elites'. So--who cares what the people in the rustbelt or flyover country think? All that matters is the urban areas that fuel the economic and jobs engine of the country.
And, actually, plenty in Florida thinks he's a dolt.
As far as OH, MI, PA and WI? If he doesn't come through on the massive amount of high-paying promised jobs, he can kiss those people good by as well.
His rock solid cult who adore his personality are not enough to keep him afloat.
Florida native here. Agree! The snowbirds and transplants have screwed up our state politically. we natives, are not followers
Hey. I'm a Florida transplant. And idi not vote for Rick scott.
But you can not say that most of the transplants and snow birds who make Fl their primary residence, even if only here a short time, are not republicans. There was a time where only republicans you could find were the Miami Cubans.

Not saying you are wrong. Been here only 6 years so I can't speak to the voting demographics.
I have lived in the 4 largest areas, tampabay is similar to Dade/broward and Jax. Now in Orl area. You know exactly who is voting for what. I'll take a transplant as long as doesn't want to change our state- no love for snowbirds, Give me tourists.
When you think of it, poor poll numbers didn't stop voters in NC, WI, MI, PA, FL, OH, IA, etc. from coming out and ensuring that Donald John Trump was elected POTUS! And they sure won't limit our support of the man today.
I understand your point but, still, it's hard for me to stomach the comparison with G. H. W. Bush, who had vast experience in politics and was known for his courtesy and propriety.
It's an issue of perceived popularity that evaporates at the voting both for the primaries. It's not policy but the will of the party voters. If there is a good moderate option I'll side Republican to vote them as the candidate over Trump.
