Part of the fuel behind the Trump movement has been and continues to be the fact that conservatives believe they were marginalized and oppressed for eight years under Obama and are out for revenge. They don't care about the good of the country. All they care about is spiting the left and making the left feel the way they did under Obama.

My question is, what happened under Obama that angered conservatives to such a great extent? Was it the climage change policy? The rainbow White House after the gay marriage decision? The trangender bathroom policy? What did Obama did to warrant this kind of hatred and thirst for revenge?

So if I report an Obama story - it's old news and I am obsessed with him even though he is long gone.

I guess that's not the case for you... ??

I will abstain from the thread, so as to not appear obsessed with Obama.

Thanks.

Obamacare and the lack of reason to first wait until the facts came out when a shooting between cops and black people occurred.

That is the main cause for the racial tensions to increase and I blame Obama for that!

Obamacare should have been a bipartisan bill.

The fact that he was born makes some on the right angry.

Everything, particularly, "If I had a son, he'd look like Trayvon."

OK I'll bite on this.

It doesn't matter what Obama actually did or did not do. Populist movements like Trump don't need specifics or rational motivations. It just needs to feel good; there needs to be some enemy upon which they can focus their vitriol. None of this is anything new, this has been going on for a hundred years. All politicians use it to some extent, but blatantly populist/nationalist candidates like Trump totally depend on it. If you are looking for an answer from his supporters you won't get one, at least one based on "real facts".

Announcing you are abstaining is not a principled abstinence. It's meant only to portray to others some sense of moral or intellectual superiority. It's like drunkenly professing your love to someone from below their window or praying in public (Jesus reference!). It has nothing to do with value and instead is just showing off.

As a democratic socialist, I'll say Obamacare. It was vaguely better than what we had before and I can appreciate that more people are covered, but a law that basically just requires people to buy health insurance from a private company doesn't really strike me as ethical.

I'm answering as a Democrat who's disgusted with their party. Obama was a do nothing president as far as I'm concerned. He cared more about global warming than more serious problems that he could have addressed. I appreciate the gay marriage decision as many of my friends are gay - but the transgender bathroom policy is stupid.

The hate from me is that he made even more of a mess with the racial division - creating more havoc. Instead of setting an example - he catered to those that want to blame everything on race be they white or black.

The problem with your question is that you are grouping people into categories. If they dislike Obama - they must be Republicans - or if they voted for Trump - they must be Republicans. The party is just something a person chose to be registered with at a young age so they could vote. Most of us joined the party - our parents belonged to. Fortunately - many of us think for themselves and don't just follow party lines.
