So, I guess he does serve his constituents, regardless of where his salary comes from.
Perhaps he has paid enough in taxes over the years to pay (offset) his own salary. I don't know.
I know that is the way I felt when I was a drilling reservist. My Federal Income taxes paid my military pay, and then some. The same thing applies to the Vietnam Veteran's bonus that the State of Montana gave me way back when. My State Income taxes paid for the bonus check, and then some. The state merely gave some of my money back to me. Then they considered it taxable income!
There is no sense in "reading between the lines". All that is found there is empty space.
Sadly, this reflects the true state of things. Even Social Security, which is money people paid into the system, isn't safe from taxes. We pay double tax a lot.
Round and round we go...Uncle Sam's one hand gives and the other takes it away.
But I guess it reflects how so many Republicans, and many Democrats, too, seem to feel little accountability to their constituents.
