That's not what Obama said.
I don't see a striking difference between that and this:

Obama:
Quote:
"There is no doubt, and I've said repeatedly, where we see terrorist organizations like al Qaeda or ISIL -- They have perverted and distorted and tried to claim the mantle of Islam for an excuse for basically barbarism and death," he said.

"These are people who've killed children, killed Muslims, take sex slaves, there's no religious rationale that would justify in any way any of the things that they do," he said. "But what I have been careful about when I describe these issues is to make sure that we do not lump these murderers into the billion Muslims that exist around the world, including in this country, who are peaceful, who are responsible, who, in this country, are fellow troops and police officers and fire fighters and teachers and neighbors and friends."
Maybe the words are different, but the premise of Trumps speech fits right in with what Obama said for years.

It's called "exactly the same as Obama."

Regarding "flip-flops", I recall seeing an interview whereby President Trump was asked what his best qualities are, and he said that he listens and that he's flexible.
Given that he's brand new to politics and foreign policy, he is constantly listening (as you do when you are new) and he's showing his flexibility by reacting to the latest developments.
If you criticize that.....very strange thing to criticize.

Think... !!! and get over "SELECTIVE AMNESIA" and you will find.. Obama tried to tell you Republicans for 8 yrs that you can't attack the entire Islamic system, and when he told you that, you attacked him, because he would not say "Radical Islam"... "NOW" when Trump comes "to learn" that he can't get on stage in front of other nations and certainly not in front of Arab nations and use the word "Radical Islam", and "Radical Islamic Terrorist".... all of a sudden.... your minds opens up.

Republican spent 8 yrs trying to find some dirt on the man, and they to date have not found any, nor did what they tried to manufacture would not and did not stick. Obama ushered in Diplomacy and resisted starting new wars, and that too was detested by the Republican Establishment.

Now Trump is LEARNING the need and responsibility of what it takes to build Diplomacy and suddenly Republican eyes open, where they were closed for 8 yrs and called Obama weak for supporting Diplomacy. Again, it was nothing but race bias that keeps Republican minded blinded.... but they won't ever admit to the race bias that has been and is embedded within "some" of themselves, which keeps their mind and eyes closed.... So, as time moves on and IF and as Trump learns more, the Republican will have to eat more and more of their own previously promoted vitriol... if and as Trump comes to learn what it takes to be President.

It's sad that they are so slow to learn, and their bias and bigotry would not allow them to learn through the words of Obama, and the works of Hillary and Kerry over the past 8 yrs. (It's simple, get over and get off of the race bias and bigotry, and you might be able to learn sooner than later many things... because time will certainly bring Trump to learn more of what Obama tried to tell the people, and the right wingers fought and rejected it, and over and over, Trump is finding that he has to come to learn the exact same things, he once condemned.... (IF Trump was man enough to admit he was wrong, it might go well to helping him not be so slow to learn or having to eat his previous words over and over. We know Trump is too egotistical to ever make such admissions directly. )

You should also open your minds on this fact too

Republican Constituency have no idea what Wealth RE-Distribution is, you are uttering a coined phrase by Republican System mentality
.. "Re-Investing" in America is what is and was the point, that Obama stood on... Now, Trump is trying to promote 'Re-Investing" in American, and you don't call it Wealth RE-distribution.... "WTF" !!!! Geez!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The big difference is, Obama said everyone should pay their fair share of taxes, and Trump is saying "Give the Wealthy a Massive Tax Break".... to promote Re-Investing.

At some point, the republican need to wake up, face the fact, their race bias and race bigotry shut their ears to Obama, but now with a white man in office, trying to promote the same principles that Obama promoted with "Re-Investing in American"... suddenly, Republican no longer call it Wealth Re-Distribution, but they can't see, that giving the Wealthy a Massive Tax Break is not in the best interest of the American People nor this nation or it's governance system.

I give Trump a plus on his Speech today... he did not embarrass American as many of us hoped he would not do so. It does not resolve his problems back here at home... But at least this first speech in Saudi Arabia did not go off the rails and become a total nightmare.

Maybe it might wake him up a bit.... and "some" his constituency might even wake up a bit.... though that is a hard one, because some of his more radical constituency which include such madness as the rabid alt right, and the other extremist groups, may never wake up.

They are nothing alike.
And that's the truth the left doesn't like. It doesn't play well into their narrative of dividing people based on religion, sex, age or color. This is why Hillary would have been nothing more than another 4 years of Obama policies and international embarrassments.

Oh PLEASE. Suddenly, conservatives have flip flopped and taken up the EXACT same position on Islam as Obama and Hillary, which they previously criticized. You're now effectively an Obama supporter on this issue and just can't bring yourself to admit it!

Yes it is to be expected, given where he was.

But what is the real Trump now? Who do we trust -- the Muslim banning Trump or the Trump admiring and respect Muslims around the world.
I'm glad he was respectful over there and took a completely different tone from his rhetoric on Muslims when campaigning. Had he not have been, it could have seriously escalated tensions over in that part of the world.

I think the moral of the story is that Trump doesn't have any convictions, period. He will simply say what he needs to say to score political points at a specific moment and pander to who he needs to pander to. Like you said, who is the real Donald Trump?

Bad link, they want you do subscribe or something. A lot of pop ups.

Did he utter the term "radical Islamic terrorist?" No, he couldn't even say it to their faces.
