The Quinault Nation statement said witnesses reported hearing the driver scream “racial slurs and war whoops” when he ran over the men.
But Grays Harbor Undersheriff David Pimentel on Monday told The Associated Press that while investigators believe the driver intentionally struck the two men, law officers have no evidence suggesting a hate crime. Witnesses interviewed by police did not report hearing racial slurs, Pimentel said.
Notice how whenever a white person does something bad to a minority its always assumed it was a hate crime. Now when a minority does something terrible against a white, then race is probably just a coincidence and has nothing to do with it.

I have noticed that, the assumption is made and is usually erroneous. If it was deliberate, then I hope he pays for it.
So the police do not think it's a hate crime. The witnesses said there were no racial slurs, etc thrown. We only have statements made by people who were not witnesses making this claim. Why exactly is this thread titled with "probable hate crime" and Yahoo's title similar when there doesn't seem to actually be evidence of a hate crime. A crime, yes, and hopefully the person will be caught and punished accordingly but I question the hate crime addition to the story as the actual facts do not seem to support such an addition.
The article says witness heard racial sources and witness said there was not.
Either way it's a sad thing that happened for the people involved and their families.
Can't imagine someone so angry that they run over someone intentionally
Terrible crime, but there is no such thing as a "hate crime"
