Lock the dealers up and send the small users to rehab.

Developing a model similar to Portugal would be a big step in the right direction.

If Portugal is wonderful, why are you still here?

I have no problem with it. If people want to kill themselves with drugs, what right do I have to stop them? None, which is why I think it's a waste of my tax dollars to incarcerate these people. Jail does not deter users from using. In jail, they often have better access to illicit substances than they would on the street.

When it comes to the dealers, as long as there is money to be made in peddling the product, that's exactly what people are going to do. Arrest one, and another will soon take their place. Eliminating the black market trade of these drugs would drastically reduce the presence of violent drug cartels in other countries. These thugs are ruthlessly killing and making life hell for innocent people, and it's primarily fueled by US dollars.

All in all, I think the war on drugs is a tremendous waste of my hard earned tax dollars. But that's one thing our government does better than anyone else, waste our money.

Why would you consider a liberal policy ? Namely on drugs ? Do you partake ? Not being nasty just asking.

I consider policies from all sides if they make sense. I have no personal stake in this policy.

Prohibition never works. I'm 100% for legalization of all drugs.

Yes.

The government has no right to tell me what I can eat, drink or smoke, or what I should think, or how I spend my money, or who I have sex with.

There is more to life than the freedom to choose what to eat, drink, or smoke.
