Not impossible, but close to it. Would be impossible for me. Unless maybe if I never wanted to go the dentist, gave up my car, never had a medical co-pay, lots of things I consider impossible. On that amount I couldn't replace a TIRE on my car, much less anything else. If we had buses, a monthly pass would be hard at that amount.

I am planning on living off of todays $1000 per month as a widow.

That's SS projection

This will occur when my hubby dies. He's 9 yrs older.

No mortgage payment, no utility payments.

Utilizing Solar for power and a spring

Propane for three-four appliances (dryer, stove, refrigerator, washer)

No healthcare expenses, including dental care

$60 mo average Property Taxes. Its capped due to a law

Very do-able if necessary

I have a REALLY low mortgage, but still. $608 with the HOA fees. $80 electricity. $50 internet. $125 home owners and car insurance. Seems like a bill I'm forgetting. Food. There is the $1100! Lacking gas, basic household items, the dentist, any sort of repair, a LOT of things would be *poof*

Yes it is income versus expenses.
I couldn't do it either if I had medical expenses, dental expenses, and vehicle upkeep.
Though hopefully by then we'd already bought a pretty descent electric car at a reasonable price.
Not much goes wrong with them

You'd need a roommate. Or possibly rent out a motorhome parked on your property. Something to get that $608 down. That's alot $$ for just one person

Someone diagnosed with celiac's is gonna have higher food costs than someone without. Someone in a wheelchair can't just rent the cheapest thing on the market because it won't even have doors wide enough to accommodate.

But anyone willing to actually base their financial advice on reality would know that. And would tailor financial advice to the specific needs and situation of the recipient... rather than just blather out platitudes about how "easy" it is to save $30,000 over 5 years.
Exactly my point and why I believe the first time I asked the question, it was roundly ignored.

Yes. I'll again point to European and Scandinavian countries who do provide basic human services to their citizens. Both regions are still very productive in artistic, technological, medical, educational and engineering endeavors.

you think $608 mortgage + HOA is a lot for one person? I paid this amount in an apartment 12 years ago. God knows how much that one is renting for now. I could rent this one out for at least $800. I plan to, if I can buy another one when this one is paid off. Anyway, this is dirt cheap!

How is no dental care possible?
