Were you around when President Obama said "And the 1980s are now calling to ask for their foreign policy back. Because the Cold War has been over for 20 years. " to Romney
or when President Obama told Russian president Medvedev "he would have "more flexibility" to negotiate with Putin after the election."
Obama was wrong. But he wasn't the first to be fooled. Remember how George Bush looked into Putin's eyes or his soul or some such and saw a good man? Now it's Trump. Wishful thinking gets to these guys and they want to believe that Putin is trustworthy and not our enemy. The last two were smart enough to figure it out, but I doubt Trump is.
Now that we have evidence that they attempted to actually change our ballots, can we conclude that Russia is a direct threat to American democracy? This goes beyond trying to influence an election.
As long as it results in dead bodies and a higher NASDAQ I'm game.
" Is it safe to call Russia an enemy nation, now? "
It's a rogue state, albeit a big one.
American rich elites like it because of the money making opportunities. To declare such a nation an enemy would make American elites our enemies ally. Naturally, these money-grubbers do not care about free elections nor the people's well-being, they care about protecting and enhancing their own wealth.
If those oligarchs who control Russia would back off, return stolen territory and cease messing with their neighbors elections (revealed in many countries) we could have a very good relationship with them. We could still do business and our greedy elites could still make more billions.
I do not think that we should consider them an enemy ... yet.
