Now that Trump is going full anti-climate and says he will free coal, all the coal miners can stop whining, right? They will all have jobs, coal will be in full swing and they can stop with almost 10% of West Virginia on Disability and Medicare, right? Since they've been blaming Obama for their plight for the past eight years, now that they have their guy Trump, they have no one to blame? And since they CHOOSE to be coal miners, we can stop with the 10% in Disability going to West Virginia? If there's any positive out of all of this, not hearing the excuses might be it.

Two Ohio coal plants just announced they are closing next year.

"Dayton Power & Light, a subsidiary of The AES Corporation, said in an emailed statement that it planned to close the J.M. Stuart and Killen plants by June 2018 because they would not be "economically viable beyond mid-2018."

Anti-Climate? Humans have no control over weather! Anthropological global warming is the biggest scam shoved down people's throats. Great job by Trump to stop the insanity.

Oh, they will stay open now because Trump saved the coal industry. It's not due to coal being more expensive than natural gas, or that there is less coal in Appalachia, etc. it's all saved now because Trump. Perhaps now we should implement a maximum on Disability by taking the average % of population in each state in the US and making that the maximum for each state, that solves one expense. Then we tell Appalachia that now that Trump has saved coal, they should all have employment by the end of 2017, no more excuses.

We wish.

They've been whining since they settled in those hills.

Whatever happens to them or their families is always somebody else's fault. That mindset facilitates their descent into addiction.

The government has been helping them for decades. It's never enough.

They don't need them in Ohio, instead, they poisoning the water supply, or I mean, fracking! http://www.environmentamerica.org/si...bers%20vUS.pdf and Fracking Impacts: Water Quality | Ohio Environmental Council

So, fracking is considered by liberals to be a plus over coal mining?

https://www.foodandwaterwatch.org/problems/fracking

I realize the liberals whine about coal mining, but what about fracking? Isn't it true that Bernie Sanders was against fracking also?

I believe all the tears over coal mining have more to do with Trump than what is good for the environment after having reading the articles on fracking.

This is also why Kasick wanted to give a pathway to illegal aliens right to these dangerous chemicals so Ohioans only had to deal with the poisoned water coming into their households, not out in the field.

They're white, you won't hear the Republicans or white conservatives complaining about government programs that target white people for help

LOL!

Global warming is the biggest scam after recycling. We haven't got out of the "recycling" scam yet.

We can't even predict tomorrow's weather, but somehow we can predict hundreds and thousands of years weather down the road.

Was it the far right that has protested against flacking? I thought lots of environmentalists were against it. Some might consider one as less damaging than the other and some may have the other opinion. A lot depends on where the coal is mined or where the fracking occurs. Not all coal is equal and not all geology is the same nor are all environmentalists the same or are all of them liberals.
