Jealousy. They don't want fair, they want to punish those with more than them. It's the politics of envy.

10% of $5,000,000 is $50,000
$50,000 > $5,000

Now, which part of this basic math is so confusing to you that prevents you from comprehending that under a flat tax, people who earn more pay more?
10% of $5,000,000 is $500,000.

So, in your example...

A $50,000 earner would pay $5,000

A $5,000,000 earner would pay $500,000

HUGE difference between the two in what they pay for THE EXACT SAME THING: Fed Gov, though the tax rate is exactly the same.

It is pretty similar to the House bill...backs away from charging more for pre-existing conditions though.

Here is the full bill: https://www.budget.senate.gov/imo/me...HEALTHCARE.pdf
At least 4 GOP Senators, Rand, Cruz, Lee and Johnson, have said they will not vote for the bill, as is.

Mitch McConnell saying he doesn't care if it passes or fails. He wants debate over. (And probably doesn't want to go home and try to explain why the bill cuts off health care for millions of people while giving the wealthy a HUGE tax cut).
Wants debate over?

It has not even begun.

Except the guy making 5 mill still has 4.5 mill left over and would not feel the tax while the guy who makes 50K only has 45K.

Tell me who does the guy making 5 Mill need to continue making that nice bank. He needs a whole bunch of those making 50K to be able to buy what ever he makes or sells. So if he paid double that amount he would still walk away with 4 mil. and if those making less then 50K pay less he would make 6 mill the next year.

That, and from what I've read here on city-data, a LOT of people simply don't understand basic math. We're talking grade school math. They don't understand that even when two people pay the same tax rate, the one who earns more pays more in taxes.

So what? He earns more. And with a flat tax, he'd be paying SIGNIFICANTLY more in taxes for THE EXACT SAME THING.

Simple those making the most do not feel the issue as those making less.
