1. JFK is not a liberal icon
2. JFK is about as left as most Democrats today.
3. JFK was President almost 60 years ago. If you want to see something far more interesting, look how far right the Republicans have gotten since Reagan.

You mean like how the Republicans have abandoned all of THEIR principles? You mean how the party has been hijacked in equal, incongruous parts by "religious" conservatives AND corporate interests? You mean how the ultra right warmongering Republicans embrace the military industrial complex Dwight Eisenhower warned us about way back in 1961?

JFK cut taxes, was a fierce Cold Warrior against communism, and got us into the Vietnam War.
I don't know what today's liberals would think is so great about that. Certainly, they wouldn't like Kennedy's "trickle down economics" (tax cuts).
But maybe I'm wrong about the other stuff, considering their sudden "concern" about Russia (even though it hasn't been communist for 25 years) and penchant for getting us into wars (Libya, Yemen to name two.)

WRONG! Eisenhower sent advisors to Vietnam, something JFK continued with but it was LBJ who first sent combat troops.

Other Western countries consistently have left-wing governments. More left-wing, in fact, than either Obama or Clinton and certainly more left-wing than JFK. And yet, none of them get themselves involved in as many wars as does the US. Most of them, in fact, avoid war at any cost. In the US, on the other hand, war is BIG business (our allies consider us the Big Bully of the West). If the US has been "hijacked" by the left, the party with a "penchant for getting us into wars"), as you claim, why is that?

You didn't answer my question. If the political left is more warmongering than the right, why is the US, which is FAR more right-wing than any other country in the West, always the one at war?
