Well, I can dream, can't I?
Obama had the chance to address this and punted. Considering how many states have decriminalized it, as well as those where it is legal, it is no longer a political risk to remove this from the Schedule 1 list. Especially when its not even addictive.

Oh great. So instead of going after the Mooslim terrorist cells, the illegal "murderers and rapists" Mexicans, "inner-city" thugs, the ANTIFA, and the MS-13 drug dealers......

We're going to spend tens of millions of federal tax dollars busting 20-something pot smokers. Awesome.

Drugs are bad for you. They ruin you're life. So if we catch you with drugs we're going to send you to prison for a long time because we wouldn't want you to ruin your life, now, would we?

Sounds fair to me.

I assure you, you've met many more who didn't have a fried brain. And alcohol, sugar, and trans fats are even worse for the brain.

Mr. Booker said the Trump administration’s crackdown against marijuana “will not make our communities safer or reduce the use of illegal drugs.”

“Instead, they will worsen an already broken system,” he said, noting that marijuana-related arrests are disproportionately high for black Americans.

THAT was the intended consequence of this war in the first place.

Trump made it clear he wished the pot laws to be left to the states. Sessions is showing how disconnected from the wishes of the people he actually is on the subject. More than half the states have medical and 8 states have legalized recreational use, so the feds are going to have a hard time doing anything about it. And it's going to get even harder, with as many as 14 more states voting on either medical or full legalization.

A look at the national perspective.

Polls show nearly 90 percent of Americans support medical marijuana while around 60 percent support legalization.

There are senators from both sides who are urging Sessions to back off. We can only hope he'll get a clue and do so.

I don't think this Genie will be put back in the bottle, and ultimately would do more harm to the GOP and this administration than good.

Party of less government, lol. Hey boys, these states where the voters voted for this thing, let's say EFF YOU, WE'RE BIG GOVERNMENT! Screw what you people want, 26 states AND THE NATIONS CAPITAL!
