Poll: Republicans think courts should be able to shut down media that's "biased or inaccurate," 45/20 - Hot Air Hot Air

Yet another example of the GOP's descent into authoritarianism. It used to be that the liberals opposed free speech, unless it was a message they happened to agree with ... now the roles have reversed and it's the GOP that opposes free speech ... unless of course, Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity approve of the message. The Republicans are the new perpetual victims, they think they are being held back by "biased media", immigrants, Muslims, and minorities.

The three pillars of the New GOP: authoritarianism, White nationalism, and whataboutism.

"Disagreement is treason" - yet another box on the fascism checklist is ticked.

The party that literally supports rewriting history books to support a narrative is trying to convince us they believe in delivering unbiased information... Riiiiiiiight

So a liberal blog post is somehow supposed to be proof that Republicans want to shut down free speech? What party exactly has been trying to pass legislation for the last 20 years to shut down Rush L?

Never going to happen, FOX would be out of business in hours, and without the Right wing mouthpieces the trumper extremist world would end.

the left would do fine because many of our sources adhere to the fairness doctrine already...

Ultimately both parties will resort to authoritarian type ideals when it goes along with what they believe. Unfortunately it's kind of a law of nature and part of our evolutionary drive to want to be with the herd and have one's herd survive at the demise of another.

The idea that we not censor speech at college campuses, you democrats, or not censor the media just because it has a democrat bias, you republicans... well these are foreign ideas to most people.. it's all about getting the people who agree with ME ME ME! to have more power.

This is why gridlock is great... neither party, nor the sheep who follow these parties, should have too much power. Our differences make us great, and the freedom to celebrate those differences without censorship is what makes America what it is.

Faux News would just be fine. I am certain they would be found unbiased and compliant with the government regulations.

Fantasy land post.

Libs keep picking up scraps of scattered thought and turn them into least probable prognostications in their continuing campaign of fear mongering and hatefilled tripe.

I think all news sources should be required to state at the beginning of every story "the following story is our opinion based on few facts that may or may not be made up but we feel it is true and we will let you make up your own mind"

News casts should have warnings like the countless ads for drugs on TV do when they are rattling of the side affects.
