Can I ask why you start a thread without any intention of having an honest debate? You've not responded to any of the very serious answers. You respond to the ones where you can easily deflect or "demand proof" without even addressing the person's claim.

Milton Friedman considered himself a liberal as did Hayek. Classical liberalism is responsible for our prosperity.

If you're going to start a thread with the snark-term "liberal" and then pretend that you don't know the benefits "liberalism" has created, I can't say that a serious response is worthwhile.

But, let's turn this on its head - what benefits have regressive, right-wing policies produced? The answer is none. Progressive policies are founded on the notion of "live and let live," empathy, and placing science and reason above superstition and cherry-picking religion quotes that suite one's own whims and hatreds. Right-wing politics, on the other hand, has made it clear that it is an enemy of: science, minorities, empathy, charity, and basic human decency.

So, if you like living in a world where you have paved roads, functional schools, the military to protection you, basic civil rights regardless of your skin color or religion, breathable air and drinkable water, and maybe access to somewhat affordable healthcare and hopefully a job that pays well enough, thank a progressive - a "dirty liberal" to right-wing extremists. If, on the other hand, you don't believe in science, hate anyone worse off than you or who happens to be different, worship the rich, and believe your religion just happens to be the only true one - what a lucky break for you! - than, by all means, give thanks to a right-winger.

The dream conservative government is one where a person can be denied medical care or a meal because of their sexuality or religion, but nobody can be denied a gun, no matter how dangerous and irresponsible they are. In conservative-land, the government should be too weak to maintain the infrastructure or take care of our veterans, but strong enough to monitor every temple and bedroom for the "wrong" kind of religion or sex.

What they want is disgusting and anti-American enough on its own, but the hypocrisy of hiding it all behind "wanting a small government" makes it laughable as well.

They really sold you on that one? Conservatives have fought every one of those initiatives. Trump has just supercharged it with his appointments to the EPA and the department of education. Both people have called for the destruction of those agencies.

Did you ever see Silkwood or Erin Brockovitch? That will demonstrate the difference for most people.
