Technically yes. We have a shotgun that lives in a closet that my husband brought to the marriage for sentimental reasons. However, we don't believe it actually works (although it might).

You having a gun of unknown characteristics in the house is like:
1. Having an unidentified snake in a cage next to your bed,
2. using a red stick that you think is probably wood but might be dynamite as a tent peg,
3. pouring an unknown liquid into your gas tank that you think might be good fuel because the can says "Nitro",
You Should take it to a gun shop to be checked out. Do you even know how to be sure it is unloaded?

I have to admit that I purchases guns in order to look "cool". Now I realized that I made such an immature stupid mistake.
Weapons like a gun have many pieces that have to be regularly maintained. You need to have training into how to take care of your gun. This doesn't have to be in depth, but a person does have to research the information of the weapon. They have to know how to adjust the sights and zero their rifles. They need to know how to disassemble and clean their bolt or inspect their firing pins for imperfections. It takes time to figure out all this and is a lot easier to screw it up than to get it right. And if you don't get it right the weapon might not work or even get you hurt as the burglar laughs at you.
Yes, I own a lot of guns and I feel stupid for admitting it. I bought all these guns for all the wrong reasons.
For a few hundred bucks and a minimal of 4hrs training a year, a handgun is definitely a good investment for protection. Don't forget the security system, protect you when you are home and when you are not home.
Your weapon, should be like your keys to the house... They go where you go.
Just read this article. Since Obama is gone and Clinton lost, the NRA needed a boogieman to increase membership. They found it in 'liberals' and 'the media.' That appears to be a common theme on this site for everything. It is quite insidious how you all are played. Anyways, interesting article. Analysis: NRA finds its new villain
Well, in all fairness, A and B.
A: Remember the sayings about vigilance.
B: Those that bank rolled the gun control elections in the previous years may not have been on the ballot themselves.....but they are still around.
According the the Bill of Rights, it is your duty.
