It is mind boggling that any one in the left wing media can seriously expect this ridiculous narrative to work in their favor after losing the elections so badly!

That is like asking why Israelis don't go out in the street throwing rocks, bottles, Molotov cocktails, etc, like the Palestinians. Answer.....because the Israelis have tanks and other advanced weaponry. Ergo, Republicans, to a large degree, are the employer class, they are the police forces, the judges, etc. They could take their anger over Obama out on blacks in the Job market, in the court rooms, in the traffic stops, etc. Maybe that is why blacks, under Obama, actually declined economically.
Rioting is the expression of the powerless......or lesser power. Its asymmetrical because one side has different tools and resources than the other.

Left vs Right is a distraction that maintains a false confidence in the system. People believe that the system would be fine......if only their party or ideology was allowed to have its way. However, the SYSTEM is broken......meaning both sides are broken, but believing your side has the solution keeps hope alive.
They trotted out the big lie that racism was increasing when Obama was elected and they're doing it now all over again.
Obama did his best to promote paranoia and to turn the people against one another, now Trump isn't doing it but he's getting accused of it. Don't let these fascists get away with it.

Not all Trump supporters are racists. Why would you even suggest something like that?

In general, most people in modern-day America know (on an intellectual level) that racism, sexism, etc. are stupid and they would (in the context of the Obama administration) feel foolish publicly shouting racist slogans. But, as is now apparent, this cognitive understanding was relatively shallow in comparison to the deeper emotional resentment that white people were feeling about the increasing percentage of non-white Americans (or, the resentment that many men feel about the increasing power of women in American society). The new social attitude, under Trump, has made it seem less daunting to publically admit to racist/sexist fears.
Bottom line: When the tide was turning toward the celebration of diversity/equity/inclusion under the Obama administration (and even under the previous administrations), most people generally felt foolish speaking out against these principles because, frankly, on an intellectual level it is hard to argue against diversity, equity, and inclusion without looking like an old-fashioned racist/sexist "good ol' boy". Thus you didn't get a lot of public protesting (except by the occasional KKK rally, etc.) But those who advocate diversity, equity, and inclusion feel fully confident that both intelligence and morality are on their side. They don't feel the least bit foolish about going out into the streets and publicly supporting the principles that were taking hold under Obama, and now appear to be under attack.
(BTW: Of course we know that some leftists will turn to violence. In any large group you will always find some people looking for an excuse to be violent. But if/when violence occurs, it won't be because of their left-wing philosophy, per se, but rather because they are simply violent people looking for an excuse to be violent. (This happens on both ends of the political spectrum. Ignorance and cruelty exist across the spectrum.))
