The democrats and their corrupt media did one of their huge smear campaigns calling them all hard core racists -- even the blacks who dared to agree with the Tea Party such as Herman Cain. It originated about economics and taxes, but the Dems successfully turned it into a racial thing and people got scared of losing their jobs and reputations.

You've never heard of the Freedom Caucus? That's the Tea Party in Congress, and they are very influential.

Perhaps they joined the ranks of the alt right? I don't know, you certainly don't hear about the Tea Party much these days.
