Racist is the wrong word. People who oppose Syrian refugees are bigots and bigots can be opposed and bigoted against anybody of any race or ethnicity, including their own race or ethnicity. Bigots are usually uneducated and very ignorant about facts.
.
Bigot here I oppose Syrian refugees who say things like the father said: "The father also expressed concerns that his children were being “Americanized” by his wife in contrast to their Syrian and Islamic roots" WTF are you immigrating to a country that you despise

I will give you credit. It has been a long time since someone has tricked me this soundly. It will only happen once though. I thank you for the lesson. Mohammed was still a pedophile though.
That IS what Syrians look like. Syrians are caucasians. White. That kid is a prime example of the typical Syrian appearance.
.
I've met Syrians before who were refugees and most of them were slightly darker than this guy and had an "ethnic" look. This guy doesn't have that look he just looks white. Both his mom and dad have that look that I'm talking about but If I met him on the street I wouldn't think he was Syrian.
I'd say the kid looks pretty American himself. Maybe he needs to grow a beard. He should have plenty of time to do just that.
What percentage of 16 year olds can grow a beard?

Has nothing to do with race, gender, religion nor pigmentation but rather the fact that I've seen plenty of information suggesting that the average Syrian has some viewpoints towards women, gays, jews and many others that I personally oppose.
The irony that you would call people bigots for not wanting to let in......even worse bigots.....(on average) is palpable.
Now keep in mind, I'd gladly welcome Syrians that passed some sort of screening.
Look at it this way, If Yellowstone erupted and all of the US had to emigrate to <insert country name here>, who would seriously want a bunch of racist uneducated white folk with meth addiction that made their living illegally? Wouldn't your own country want to cherry pick the doctors and so forth?
But wait! If you opposed getting piles of refugees from Americans most uneducated and impoverished areas with dim views towards oh.....muslims....I guess that would make you a bigot? No, not really...but that's the argument you're making.

We apparently do a horrendous job screening when these imbeciles are able to migrate here.

I am just going to step in and end this fight, Zoisite was TKO'ed.
16 year old Michigander Muhammad Altantawi is accused of murdering his mother for being too American.
Allegedly, the father - who was not living with the mother, convicted of welfare fraud and domestic violence, and had a restraining order against him by the mother - would constantly berate the mother to his kids for being too American and young Muhammad also believed that his mother was too Americanized and was trying to "Americanize" him.

Okay, if you say so, then I guess I was TKO'ed. But why didn't they read the article you posted? Why jump to conclusions? Why are others here automatically assuming and referring to this family as ignorant, impoverished refugees and making comments about "letting these kind of people into America" when the family are actually wealthy, well educated people who have legally been in America for several years?
They aren't refugees, they're an affluent, well-employed, mansion dwelling American family with Syrian roots, the mother and father met and married in Syria. The mother was a fitness trainer and the father was a long time physician who recently lost his license because of Medicaid fraud (not welfare fraud as you stated).
Why did you say it was welfare fraud instead of Medicaid fraud if for no other reason than to make the family situation look worse than it already is? That can't be passed off as a simple mistake.
Everything else that has been said in the article about the family are all allegations and it says that right in the article, that they are allegations.
If the father is actually an immigrant physician from Syria he should have / would have been deported for Medicaid fraud and domestic abuse. Deportation is what is supposed to happen to an immigrant who breaks the law. Why didn't that happen?

Thats an appeal to ignorance fallacy. A racist not knowing Syrians are "white" does not change that they were/still are racist towards Syrians, all it proves is that they had no idea who they were against.
