Thats your own personal viewpoint. I don't own any guns, and it certainly isn't some power trip that I think people should be able to legally own them. You are just projecting so it makes it easier for you to demonize those who have different opinions than your own.
I demonize an opinion that states all people should have access to as many type and as powerful a weapon as they want. Yes, I think it's stupid and careless and in most cases driven by people who have power issues.
The type of people who claim Sandy Hook was a false flag to take their beloved guns. Yes, I demonize those people. While they themselves may never raise their guns against another person, their obsessive hobby puts us all in danger.
Question: Why won't Trump label this as a terrorist attack. He is always so quick to label these when an obvious Muslim is the killer. Why not now?
Because it would upset the narrative on the right that the primary threats we face are from brown people and Muslims when the statistics show far more Americans are killed by white people and Christians.

And I was specifically addressing "mass murders", which has nothing to do with the article you linked. And the reason the gun grabbers come out of the woodwork to demand we follow Australia's lead.
The majority is hand made, but the barrel probably isn't. They probably get those from a person with a lathe making illegal barrels. Machining such barrels has been done for over a hundred years. You could probably get a lathe that would do the trick for $1,000.

You are talking about a number significantly smaller than 1% for those items in red.
As for an "obsessive" hobby, thats just your opinion, you are using the extreme fringes to try and rationalize the entire group.
For that same token, same in that mass shooting. If I can shoot one round a second with a bolt gun there's still going to be a pile of bodies. Plus, most new bolt guns or pump guns come with a box mag or are easily converted to one. Which, I'd kind of expect a criminal to exploit even if semi's were banned.
There are many Utube videos comparing magazine capacity and rate of fire.
You aren't going to get the same rate of fire for any length of time for a bolt action vs full auto if that's what this guy ended up having or even semi auto with larg capacity. Run a short test and the rates may be close but stretch it to 5 minutes and it wouldn't be
